    Hello there,

I hate to be a bore but I'm new to all this and have got myself terribly confused about how I start claiming my PPI back.

I was mis-sold by the insurance by EGG back in 2007. I was told PPI was mandatory. The loan was for 24,000 and the insurance was 5191.92 a sizeable sum. The loan is nearly paid off but i have recently fallen behind with payments as my business has been hit hard by the recession :(

I have downloaded the questionnaire that i will duly fill out. Once filled out am i right to assume I send this to EGG along with a covering letter? Is there a template for a covering letter?

I'm sorry if this is covering old ground but it's difficult to think straight sometimes with the weight of my debt.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Alan

Hi mate! Seems like u were sold a prity expensive policy! Was the purpose of the loan to consolidate any existing debt? Cheers

was wondering , my claim is with the ombudsman after the adjudicator upheld my claim but the bank still rejected .If my claim is upheld by the ombudsman , can the bank use my refund to pay of part of another loan that i have with them ( not the loan that the ppi was with ) i dont suppose it really matters but it would be nice to have the money as my wife is on maternity .PS my claim was upheld in december , how long is it normally with the ombudsman for before a decision is made
    thanks

    Hi Dean

This may vary from one bank to another, mine was dealt with individually and did not intervene with the one that is owing, we received these back direct to us.
    Good luck.;)

  • Hi all,

Wow, this is a big topic! Hope I'm not covering too much old ground. I have every reason to believe I was mis-sold PPI by Egg in early 2004 (account closed in Apr 2008), I understand that this would have been around the time of the 'pre ticked' box within the online applications.

I've searched through all of my old paperwork and managed to find the customer copy of the original credit agreement I signed and returned which mentions nothing of PPI. Would it be worth including a copy of this with my initial complaint letter? Does it even sound worth sending a complaint letter? I haven't actually viewed any statements yet but reading so many other PPI reclaim stories that sound similar to my situation that I thought it would be worth trying.

    Any help/advice most appreciated.

    Hi Steve

I say yes go for it, and yes copies only, and not to send the originals, anything for evidence will be a big help to your reclaiming, good luck Steve and please keep us posted, cheers.;)

Hi there, if the copy of your agreement mentions nothing regarding ppi, then to me it looks like you did not have ppi?.

    Hi all

My partner began working for Halifax 9 years ago and after short period of time working there was offered a credit card from them, which was sold with insurance. The Halifax were aware that my partner had a medical condition (diabetes). My partner has since gone for other insurance policies which have either been declined or will not cover this medical condition. Therefore does her credit card insurance actually cover this medical condition. If not has she got a case to claim it back.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi and welcome

If your partner already had a medical condition at the time when taking out insurance, think this would go for most insurances, its unlikely they will pay out for this, although they may pay out for any med conditions that did not come on until afterwards.
However, if they were aware that your partner had a med condition then they should not have suggested that she take it.

If you want to make a reclaim, complete the questionnaire that replaced the template letter on this site, send to the complaints dept if they have one of the head office or whoever set up her account.
Remember to keep copies of all you have sent and received, in case you need to go back to this again at some point.

They have 8 weeks to give a decision but may ask for more time, but should still keep you informed of the progress of the reclaim.

The questionnaire here below link - stage one of reclaiming.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

However, you can ask them to send you a copy of the policy details booklet in the post if you no longer have these, then check it out, but in my opinion they will not pay out on a medical condition if it was pre existing at the time of taking out the ppi/account.

    Good luck.:)
