Cheque in the post this morning for Debenham's store card PPI plus interest and loss of cash payment - total £560-75. Brilliant. I sent out 10 letters and first two have either made an offer or settlement. Have asked HFC to reconsider their offer. Not a bad return for a few stamps.

  • I took a mortgage out with Northern Rock in 2004. I've since sold the property & no longer have a mortgage. I received a phone call from a company a couple of weeks ago, who were apparently working on behalf of Northern Rock customers to help people claim back missold PPI. At the time I was in the car & unable to speak to them so she said she'd call back. I've not had a call back. & was wondering what paperwork I would need to make a claim myself? Also, the mortgage was with my ex-partner who I no longer have contact with. Would this affect me putting in a claim?

    Hi there

And wise to have a go yourself on the reclaiming and not to use a claims company where they will only charge you at the end on success.

I far as I am aware its the same reclaiming questionnaire you use to make a reclaim on other ppi, for loans/credit cards etc here stage one.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

Once completed, then post to either the complaints dept or head office of whoever set up your account - maybe a broker arranged it?

Remember to keep copies of everything in case you need to refer back to this at some point.
And they have 8 weeks, but may ask for more time, but should keep you well informed.

Dunstonh knows a lot more on how mortgage ppi reclaiming works, so if you want to post up a new thread of your own so its not missed, within the ppi reclaiming threads, I'm sure he will be along to help.

    Good luck.;)

Hi there, if this was a joint mortgage and you have a valid claim for mis sell then i am sure both parties must put the complaint in as the mortgage was joint, you will need both signatures.
As di says, dunstonh knows his stuff with this kind of ppi and i am sure you will find out more.
  • Any advice please.. How can i prove that i was mis- sold the ppi/s
that i got when i took out two personal loans with the halifax(2008),
I was led to belive that if i didnt take the insurance i might not get the loans.
Ive just found out that ive been paying £90 per mth for the ppis,
I have the paper work,But its all a bit confusing.
    Thankyou.:(
  • Hi all, am new to the site..and to this ppi thing.
have been reading the various success stories and feel very encouraged, am just about to try to reclaim from Marks and Spencer ( card) and 2 barclaycards. However, I noticed on my transactions on my card statement from Barclays, that insurance is described as "optional insurnace". Does that give them a get out? Is it still worth me trying? Forgive basic questions but feel a bit overwhelmed by all of this...v scary!

    Hi and welcome

Give it a go with your reasons, a lot of people have been had because of the same reason as yours.
You probably assumed like most of us that the ppi was all part of the loan, because you were not told any different.

Check the link below for more details.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

This then takes you to the reclaiming questionnaire here.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim
stage one of reclaiming, this replaced the template letter on this site.

Complete and send to the ones responsible for selling you the loan account, if they have a complaints dept send to them or their head office, and keep copies of everything in case you need to refer to this again at some point.

They have 8 weeks, and may write to ask for more time, but should keep you informed, hope this helps, good luck.;)

    Hi and welcome

They may try getting out of it by stating it was optional, but even so they may still have mis sold you the ppi, maybe they added it without your knowledge ??

But for whatever reasons you have, give it a go anyway, you've nothing to lose by trying.

Follow the link below, then complete the reclaiming questionnaire, stage one, send to whoever responsible to setting up your accounts head office, or the address on back of your policy details if you have these.
Give them 8 weeks, hopefully they will make a decision by then, but may ask for more time, and remember to keep copies of everything as well. Good luck.:)

  • Thanks so much for your help...really appreciate it as I feel a bit vulnerable to these banks..

The support here seems to be great...these organisations can be real bullies...
