Well it hasnt taken quite as long as I expected but had a result from Northern Rock. They have agreed to cancel the ppi and repay interest on the payments made at 8%. Although we wont see it as we are on a dmp this has reduced the whole balance from... wait for it.... £40000 down to £21,000 which is quite a result and would not have been possile without martin setting up the site and people like di3004 helping out us newbies.

    Many thanks again

  • Is Balance Cancellation Cover another name for PPI? The reason I ask is that I had an Asda (GE Money) credit card and this was being charged each month. If its not PPI, does anyone know if this can be reclaimed in the same way?

    Many thanks.

Hi There is certainly sounds like it.

I would advise you give them a ring to make sure you know what it covers and then decide whether you need it or not.

If you do not need it cancel it. Some need 1 months cancellation period. Also ask them over the phone for a copy of the original agreement. They MAY just let you have a copy.

If not you could go for the SAR at 10.00. Then if you feel you were missold you could then claim this back.

Try by phone first if you feel you have a valid claim. Just be aware that they may be taping the conversation so just be aware what you say.

    Good Luck

I did cancel this cover but made payments on it for about 12 mths. Have just found a letter which states 4% of the balance outstanding would be paid should I be unable to pay it due to work, sickness etc. I think I will send the standard PPI letter and see what happens.

    Thanks for your help.
