  • Hi everyone

I have just spoken to the FOS about the letter we received from Tesco PF.

I asked if I would have to start the claim all over again as they have said they would only deal with my partner as the insurance is in his name only.

They said no we wouldn't as we have both signed the complaints form and that they would deal with Tesco PF on our behalf.

This is a relief as I thought I would have to start the whole process over again.

Thanks to everyone who posted their advice on this sorry I could not reply until now but I work every weekend:A

Yes I agree with Boo, It may be the FOS may need OH permision to carry on complaint but should not have to start over. It sounds like FOS have been in touch and Tesco are just about to do a good will thingy.
    Hi pinknico,

Both of us have signed the FOS complaints form so there are no problems there.

The FOS have been in touch with Tesco PF so maybe they will make a goodwill gesture (fingers crossed ) but they will make the cheque out to my partner.

I sent my first letter to Egg on 30 Dec. After getting an immeadiate "we have received your complaint" letter back, I then received a letter after 4 weeks saying they are still looking into it.

By my caluclations, we are now into the 8th week. Is it liekly that I will get a letter this week, or are Egg prone to going over the time limit?

What should I do now? Should I email them and advise they are in to their final week? Should I wait to see what happens? What if I'm sat here this time next week and still have no reply?
    e no reply at

Egg will reply at the end of 8 weeks either to give an answer or to say it will take more time.

If you have no reply at 8 weeks, contact the FOS, but with the possibility of waiting up to a year I am sure Egg will reply before then!!

I too have a claim withHFC I wrote to them in November2008 and received letters to say still investigating will contact me.

I then wrote a letter to HFC and they stated tha I could not take the case to the FO as I had not received the final letter, are they just stalling it seems they are playing the system!!!What can I do ?I have contacted the FO to get a case number.

You can take your case to the FOS at the end of the 8 weeks with or without a final response, all this means is the FOS will try to get a final response from HFC for you and then if the final response is negative will look into your complaint for you, asking HFC for all the information they used to come to their decision.

I wrote to HFC on the 16th Feb stating that it was unceptable to say they could not find the statements.

Also that they had exceeed the timescale set by the Information Commissioner. Therefore I would report the to the I.O .

I gave the 5 days to respond. I hope that this makes sense as I have lost this message twice already!!

I would contact the ICO if you have not received all the documents you should have.

Hi Everyone, took out a loan in Dec 2007 with A & L for £6850.00 at 7.9% over 48 mth.with ppi at the same rate and term.I was not in employment at start of loan as I was retired on ill health. After reading this forum felt that I too was mis-sold the ppi and telephoned A&L asking for this part of the loan to be cancelled,as I felt it would be of no use to me.That was on 12/02/2009, I received letter dated 16/02/09 saying ,We are currently looking into the issue raised, etc; Further letter dated 20/02/09 arrived stateing, re; ppi policy taken out with A&L loan in December 2007.Having concidered the available infomation, we have not been able to establish whether you were provided with sufficient details to allow you to make an informed
decision when this policy was taken out, etc;we would therefore like to offer you £141.12 as a refund, including interest, of all premiums paid for the ppi element of your loan. Offer consists of £134.40 as refund of payments in respect of ppi January 2008 and February 2009.It includes £6.72 in respect of interest payable to February 2009.Interest at 8% simple per annum.
They have enclosed an acceptance form for me to sign, giving up any right I may have to persue a claim in respect of the ppi policy through the courts.
I would be so grateful if someone would advise should I sign this form and take the refund of ppi payments this is all beyond me.

We could do with knowing the amount of the PPi Loan
Is it in the 6850 or extra?

What are your premiums?--I calculate a premium of £166.91 for a 6850 loan.

Working backwards, I calculate that if you paid £134.60 in premiums-the 8% is correct at £6-ish BUT those level of premiums would equate to a £395 loan ie only 5.7% of the cash loan which seems low.

In any case-if they are saying it has been mis-sold-as well as an offer of the premiums paid + 8%--you ALSO want confirmation of the loan balance is reduced to what it would have been without the PPI and the resulting reduction in the overall monthly premium.

Post up the Loan/Premium details and will advise further.

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. Now she's 97 years old and we don't know where the hell she is.

  • hi Guy,s

Sorry to bother you again. But if Tesco come back saying the will make an offer as a good will gesture will this be for the full amount plus the 8% interest. My ppi was £1861.20 all told and then there should be 8% on top of that.

I have read on the Legal Beagles site that RBS are only offering £750 back as a goodwill gesture. Its under the heading Banks fob off ppi claiments

    Any advice would be welcome

You don't have to accept their first offer, you can discuss this with the FOS if you do not get offered what you expect.

I expect the others who were waiting for Tesco PF got the full amount.
