PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi PPI reclaimers
My partner has been offered as a 'goodwill gesture' nearly £200 from Natwest to cover his PPI payments over the last 6 years. He actually cancelled the policy 2 years ago when he realised he couldn't claim as he is self employed and the policy was originally sold to him in 2001. He has had a big success with Nationwide who are returning all his payments plus interest for the whole time he had the policy. His claim for mis-selling has focused on the fact he was only employed on a temporary contract; Nationwide asked for proof of this and then coughed up!
Do we hold out for more from Natwest or accept the offer and be grateful? 3 of our other claims are now with the ombudsman as they have all been 'put on hold' - interestingly the RBS claim went to the same address as Natwest's but had a different response.
Thanks very much for any thoughts or advice on this.0 -

Hi there
Well done on your success!
The decision is yours of course on the other.
However, its also known that some banks have also overturned a final decision, so if there is anything you can think of you think you may have missed, or maybe they have overlooked, it maybe worth mentioning this to them, and give them say 14 days to come back, if you've not heard anything by then, or they confirm they will not change the offer - maybe then you know its time to move on to the FOS.
Its up to you though, you do what you feel is best, if you decide your happy with the offer then that is fine, either way wishing you the best of luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi Everyone again
This is interesting as I have also recieved this letter from HSBC..... had First one back in December, this second one arrived at my daughters house, but I am the one who is making the claim on her behalf, I telephoned them and was told there is a court case on-going and is expected to conclude early March this year, so I wouldn`t get any replies with a decision untill end of March...... should I STILL wait or go to the FOS as they also said in my letter I have the right to go to the F Ombudsman service. I asked for a letter to be sent to me with everything they had just told me over the phone, this being for my records, but I AM wondering if all this is a DELAY tactic... and IS THIS TRUE about HSBC bank amongst other Financial businesses still being in court over PPI CLAIMS????
I would appreciate any help with this.
Kind Regards to everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Hi Carolyn
Unfortunately this is true, there is a Juducial Review (JR) and there is a case coming up next week, it may last a few days, but we don't know how long it will take to resolve.
You can take it to the FOS if you want to, or sit back for a little while and see what becomes of this case.
Its difficult to predict who will be quicker, as you may be aware the FOS have very high volumes of complaints as well which are taking maybe a year or more.
But its up to you, you do what you feel is best for you.
Read more on this on the link below.

I am sitting back on 2 of my latest ones that is held up due to the JR matter, its still sitting with the bank, I may see what happens over the following few weeks, then decide from there.
There are lots in the same position, so whatever you decide, wishing you luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi just looking for some advice as to what I should do next, I've filled in the form and made a complaint to the Bank its's been 8 weeks and the reply I've received is that "we are dealing with it as as a priority but as it has been 8 weeks I can refer to Ombudsman".
Just wondering whether to sit tight and wait or escalate the complaint......??0 -

Hi there
Do you mind posting what bank?
Its ok to do so.;)
In my above post just posted before this one there is a link to an ongoing issue in regards of PPI complaints, they may take a little longer than usual but its up to you at this stage, if you want to move on to the FOS or wait just a little longer.
Normally from a final letter you have 6 months from the date on that letter, but I assume going by your post its not the final letter yet as they are still onto your case.
Please keep us posted and hope you receive some good news on the post very soon, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi Yes it's HSBC
Hiya
They are one of the banks involved within the Judicial Review issue, but try not to worry, hope all will be resolved very soon, your case will still have to be dealt with either way.
Please keep us informed and keep a check on posts on here too, as there are lots who are waiting and have dealings with HSBC.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
