PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

I've just received a letter from egg today saying I was miss old but that they won't refund me until the jr is complete as they say they are unable to calculate the amount owed to me until this is complete. Is there anything else I can do at the moment or do I just have to wait?
Hi and welcome
Well done!
Personally I would sit it out a little longer, the first JR case starts next week and should last a few days, but dont really know how long the actual case will take to resolve as such, but sit back until the end of the month if you want to and take it from there.
Keep a check on posts on this site, good luck and hope your not waiting too long for your money, there are others in the same position as well.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi
I am relatively new to this site having made one previous claim for bank charges against A & L some 3-4 years back and won. I recently received my first statement from a personal loan taken out in 2005 December in this statement a mention is made about PPI to cut a long story short I have contacted them and they confirm that a PPI policy is active on my account (did not know at all about this).
Any PPI would have been no good to me when the agreement was taken out, I have no recollection of discussing this when taken out I have a serious (at the time) medical problem which requires and has had a total of 6 operations going back to 2002.
To put this in a nut shell my claim is against Member service finance a part of the RBOS. I have filled in the 1st letter and will be posting in the morning.
does anyone have any horror stories with either of the 2 named parties, it will be interesting to read other claimants experiences with RBOS etc.
Sitting here with my fingers crossed.

Hi and welcome Bob
Wishing you luck on your reclaiming and in my opinion you do have a good case here, so hopefully it will all go straight forward for you.
They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision but you may receive one sooner, or they may write asking for more time, and they should also keep you informed of the progress of your complaint.
Hopefully others who have had dealings with these will post up with their own experience.
Please keep us posted and fingers crossed.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi Di3004,
Thanks for the information. I wrote 2008 but it was supposed to read December 2010. I am praying that the banks loose the battle and we consumers win.0 -
Well done on your win :j:j:j afraid you will have to wait it out. Hopefully the bankers will lose ,i personally hope they do.At least you have won and all they have to do is work out how much to pay, some have just had their cases put on hold with no win yet.I've just received a letter from egg today saying I was miss old but that they won't refund me until the jr is complete as they say they are unable to calculate the amount owed to me until this is complete. Hi - another newbie on the PPI trail. I took out a loan with Aliance & Leicester back in 2007 and was sold the PPI along with it. I guess I was a bit naive with not knowing alternatives out there in terms of insurance, but at the time I really felt like the person I dealt with on the phone was pressurising me into taking the PPI.
Also - again showing how clueless I am - I didn't realise I could cancel the PPI (I assumed there'd be some penalty involved if I did that). I've been self employed for almost the last year, so some of the cover it offers isn't even relative any more.
Anyway 2 questions - straight forward one first. If I do make a claim, since Santander took over Alliance & Leicester and I didn't get the PPI through a specific branch, would I send the questionnaire to Santander's complaints dept. or is there a more specific dept. I should send it to?
And is it worth me giving it a go? I feel I was put on the spot with the PPI at the time, but I know I don't have a specific reason to back up the mis-selling claim, so do I have any chance?
And alternatively will I realistically gain anything if I cancel my PPI now as I only have 14 mths or so left on the loan payments.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.0 -

Hi there
Yes I would give it a go with your reasons, it may also be worthwhile in asking for a copy of the tel conversations as well, some hold these details, others don't but it may help your case.
Normally you would pursue the ones who set and sold you the policy in the first place, so for eg, if this was A&L then write to them and they will move it on to the relevent dept for you, post by recorded delivery so you can keep a check on the status of delivery and the 8 weeks they have, although they may ask for more time.
To make a reclaim, the template letter was replaced by a reclaim questionnaire on this site, but you can write a letter in your own words to make a reclaim if you want to or complete the questionnaire, its up to you.
You will find this on stage on on the link below, keep copies of everything as well - in case you need to go back to this again at some point.
Good luck.

I forgot to mention that A&L were one of those companies fined in recent years in regards of mis selling ppi, check for more details on link below.

Hiya
I don't think it means anything bad, I think maybe they are coming to the bottom of it, we have been told the same in the past and they have come out all okay.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
