  • Hi, I am new to the site and have no idea if I am in the correct place but thought I would give it a go.

I have been paying a loan since May 07 to LTSB for a total loan amount of 13,000. As part of this I am also paying £62.10 per month in PPI.

Having read this site it would appear that I may of been mis-sold the PPI. At no point in time have I ever been asked about existing medical conditions. I have had epilepsy for most of life and although I declared this for my car insurance it never crossed my mind about the loan PPI - possibly because they don't explain things very clearly.

No sure whether or not I should claim/cancel the insurance so just looking for some advise please.

    Thanks

Hi there, dont cancel this ppi as they will redo a loan with a longer term and interest. Look here for how to put a claim in for mis sell and reasons that apply to you.

    Hi and welcome

I would do as amersall suggests, do not cancel just yet, it will all soon fall into placed when resolved, where if successful where you in my opinion should be then you will receive all you have paid in ppi and interest etc, then the payments would therefore reduce on a monthly basis.

Click on the link posted by amersall, complete the reclaiming questionnaire, this replaced the template letter on the site, send to the address below, and keep copies of all you send and receive in case you need to refer to this at some point.
They normally have 8 weeks, but may ask for more time, but they do generally keep you posted, good luck and please keep us informed.

  • Hi, We put in a claim for misselling of PPI with Royal Bank of Scotland in August last year. Initially it was through one of those companies that do it all for you, but soon learnt that they were not chasing RBS or keeping us up to date. We cancelled their involvement in November after we found out the RBS had been awaiting further info since October. Since August we have had 3 letters from RBS saying they are still investigating and would we allow another 8 weeks!! In November I rang them and checked that they had everything they needed to process my claim, which they said they did. In December I rang to check progress again and now they are saying our claim is on hold due to the Court case in January:mad: Compared to some people on this site I seem to have been asked to wait a very long time for a decision let alone any proposals. They just seem to keep fobbing me off at every avenue. Any advice please. PS: This was for a loan I took out through Direct Line for £10,000 in 2002, which was paid off in 2003

Hi guys & gals - I hope I can get a quick bit of advice to help me pursue a possible PPI claim.

I was sold a loan by Barclays in 2001 which came with 'Premium Loan' also known as loan protection. I obtained the loan in person and was told that it would help my application if I had protection.

I am unsure of 2 things.

    1) The age of the debt is nearly 10 years old - does that hinder?
    2) I obtained it in person

I do have the original agreement, a sample of which is here: h t t p://j.imagehost.org/0705/loan.jpg

Hi there, and good for you for getting rid of the company, they would only have the same result that you have. The judicial review starts on the 24th jan, i know this is a problem, but hope fully this will be resolved quickly (if they get a judge who does not side with the bankers). It is just a case of hanging in there and hope for the best.

Hi there, look here for reasons for mis sell and what you need to do.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Some have won complaints from the 90s, so if you have reasons for mis sell then send a letter to barclays and give reasons for mis sell. You must photocopy the agreement and enclose this and send it recorded delivery. If you need any more help then just ask.

    Hi there

I would certainly have a go yourself and not use any claims companies, this way you will not pay out any fees/charges, just for the posting at your post office.

There is one way you can try to find account numbers on old loans, if you bank online and still with the same bank that you repaid the loan repayments, this should allow you to go back up to about 7 years online, the account number of that loan is normally shown next to the monthly repayments, and the name of the loan company.

The other way would be to contact them and ask them if they still hold your details, they may supply them free or you can request a Subject access request (SAR) but for this you enclose £10 cheque or postal order, and they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they may still hold on your account(s).
They only mainly hold data up to the last 6 years, but this can vary from one bank to another, one of mine and hubby's went back to about 10 years.
If they are unable to supply anything then they should send you written confirmation and return your payment.

There is a SAR letter template on the link below, you can tweak to your requirements if you want to.
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

For each different bank - if you require your paperwork, its a separate SAR, but if you taken a few loans/credit cards with the same company, one SAR is sufficient.
Again going back to the account number, if your unable to find these details, for the SAR Request, then give them as many details as possible, full name, any different name you may have been under when taken out finance, your date of birth and all addresses etc, this makes it easier for them to track down your data.

But, just as long as you can try to get hold of the details of the account number in regards of reclaiming, you can still do so without the need of the paperwork.

All you do is complete the reclaiming questionnaire, this replaced the template letter on this site, complete and send to whom set up your accounts (head office or complaints dept), keep copies of all you sent and receive in case you need to go back to these at some point.

They normally have 8 weeks to give a decision, but may ask for more time.

    The link to the reclaiming questionnaire here;

Hope this is of some help for you, good luck.

ok all a bit of a mindfield but will try and slowly read it to grasp it.1 question(if thats ok) i have found loan details in joint names(myself and my wife) from nov 2007,it doesnt mention ppi,but it has amount of credit(cash loan),amount of credit(insurance loan)and total amount(the 2 together) is the insurance bit the ppi?i think the pi is creditcare gold,it asks on original form if we want it to cross the box,but havent got original paperwork if so how do i prove i was mis-sold it? surely its there word against mine, and there a massive institution?
