Hi All - I have a claim in with Egg and received a letter over the Christmas period saying that they knew the 8 week period was just about up but they wanted a little more time although they knew that I was within my rights to go to the FOS.

So my question is, should I give them some more time, and if so how much?

    Hi Caroline

Personally yes I would give them a little longer, and with them keeping you informed that is good, so hope you receive some good news soon anyway, good luck.;)

    Hi,

I'm also claiming ppi from egg and have had a "we know it's been 4 weeks..." letter so can't tell if that's good or not, but basically my situation is:

    Apr on loan: 7.66%
    Original Loan: 11,277
    PPI Amount: 2656.97
    Date of agreement 23.10.2006
    Term: 84 months

They told me originally that I could only take the loan with insurance due to my employment situation even though I was permanently employed and had no bad health record, they got me for unemployment and life. Any idea of what my chances are of a rebate with this? Also does anyone know if the 4 week confirmation letter is generally a good sign and, if so, of what?

    Thanks :)

    Hi and welcome

They normally have 8 weeks to give a decison, some will give confirmation and even a decision earlier, but their rights are 8 weeks, did you post your reclaim by recorded delivery?
If so it may be worth checking they received it, due to previous bad weather conditions as well.
Did you keep a copy of your reclaiming letter and/or questionnaire?

Good luck with this and please keep us posted.

Someone I'm sure will check the figures for you, that part of it is a sore point for me lol.:D;)

    Hi there

Many of us have had to go the insurer/underwriter direction as another avenue to take, but for your policy details, even though BH may not longer hold any details on you, you can still write to them and ask them who the insurer was at that time.

Otherwise contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) for some advice on this matter, good luck and please let us know how you get on, cheers.;)

As I said I have recieved a confirmation letter stating it has been 4 weeks since they received the letter. It was originally sent recorded, yes.

    Hiya

Hopefully you should receive the decision very soon then.

Eight weeks is normally as from when they receive your letter, or maybe the date on your letter, and even if you receive confirmation as you have they therefore have another 4 weeks then to give you a decision.;)

    Yes I agree.

Keep at them anyway and if no success, then make that complaint to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), just let us know if you require any help with this if needed and when the time comes.;)
