Has anyone had any success reclaiming PPI applied to default charges, when reclaiming default charges...if that makes sense?
Sorry if this is the wrong thread!

Hi Matty, I can't see why not, if this was mis sold and its still being added to the account via default charges, then give it a go anyway, good luck.;)

    Hi guys,

New to the forum, but have been reading a lot about the PPI, so I decided to write to the Halifax.

Got a letter back, stating that they were looking into the complaint.

Its nearing the end of the 8 week period (ends Friday 24th), is it usual for a company not to contact you within that time? Do they use it as some sort of stalling technique?

Do you think its worth a quick phone call to see if there has been any progress?

    Cheers in advance,

    Steve

    Hi Steve and welcome.

Good luck on your reclaiming and I hope you hear some good news soon.

I would give them a little over the 8 weeks, such as a further week, and if you hear nothing, give them a quick call and ask for an update.

However, you are in your right to complain to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) once the 8 weeks have passed and you hear nothing, but at this current time there could be reasons on why the letter have not arrived yet.
The snow is causing much delays to posting letters etc, but there is no harm in contacting them for an update any time now, just in case.;)

Well done everyone who are having a go, I hope you all get successes.

My little situation is not over yet and is getting more and more confusing by the day!!

Basically, my complaint was upheld and a month ago I was sent a cheque for full amount (without 8% interest) I paid it into my account but it was sent back unpaid, apparently I should have paid it to the loan bank for them to take off loan.

Cheque sent back with letter dated 20th Oct, on same day I had a letter from different department dated 13th Oct saying they were paying the full amount plus 8% interest directly off my remaining loan and my payments would be the same for remaining 24 months!

I rang and they agreed to pay off loan with the full amount, which leaves about £1200 left to pay so I asked them to change my payments ~ they didn't seem to have realised they should do this!!

Anyway, I rang Monday and informed them the loan money was still in my current account with another bank even though cheque was returned, they said the money had not been cleared their end and wouldn't be...it's now Friday and the money is still in my account!!!
I'm not ringing my bank just yet about it until the loan confirmation comes through, just in case they've cocked it up again.

    Bizarre or what??

O.....M....G!!! The money is still in my account!! Went into Nationwide today and they can't figure out why I've been paid twice. My current account bank Natwest have investigated too and say they haven't paid me twice. The PPI reclaim amount has been paid off my loan and I still have the £2.5k they paid by cheque.

Now if I hadn't mentioned anything............ No-one would have a clue. Except me, lol. Too honest for my own good. x

Thank you. Hoping they get it sorted now though because the money belongs to one of these banks and it's burning a big hole in my pocket!!
