PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hello, can someone advise me?
I just got a telephone call out of the blue. The person said the company name was PPI claims and they were calling because I could be owed money from loans I took out in the past. Well, I did have two loans, for small amounts, one of which was paid back long ago, and the other is still running. I did have PPI on the latter but I made a claim which ended up being a payout for a paltry £30 or so (I was no longer able to worl due to husband's diablity). I don''t know if the other loan (Natwest) had PPI.
I am verty suspicious; usually I don't take cold calls at all. The guy said he wants nothing from me; thay they will call me back in 15vminutes with info on if I can make a claim and how much; and they will send me some paperwork.
Is this legit or not? I have not given them any information they can use.
Hi there
So sorry am late in posting tonight, just came across this now.
To be honest I don't trust any of the Claims companies, lots have had no end of trouble, you may also find lots of different threads on here of different ones.
They all tell us the same, and say they want nothing "now", yet if you were to be successful you do not get to keep all of your refund.
I cannot recall on who this company is but there are lots of them about and try it on.
Did they get back to you after? and if so what happened?
If you feel you have a reclaim, you can do this all free from this site, more info here:

Hi everyone,
I have started a claim against Black Horse on a car HP agreement, I have sent the initial request back in mid to late September and as expected when I received their reply they wouldn't accept responsibility. They said to me that and I quote:
Thank you for your recent letter regarding the sale of Payment Protection Insurance in relation to the above agreement.
It is important that we are made aware of any instances where our customers feel that insurance has been mis-sold, however, our records show that we did not sell the Payment Protection Insurance for this agreement. The insurance was sold by *************** at the point of sale. ( Local car dealer)
On this basis, we do not accept your claim that we have mis-sold the insurance but we have sent a copy of your letter to ************ and we have asked them to investigate the issues raised and to respond directly to you.
Sorry folks for this being so long, but, I have sent them back my response saying that their response has not offered me a satisfactory justification of my policy being sold to me fairly, reasonably and within my best interests and to look into it again within next 14 days otherwise I go to the FOS.
I also stated that local dealer was in fact their agent and hence the complaint/claim has been sent direct to them (Black Horse)
My question from all this is this:
Is this a fob off rejection letter by passing the buck and that I should really be after the dealer or do I keep on going the way I am?
Any advice would be REALLY appreciated and I will keep you all up to date on developments.0 -
PS,
sorry folks, i am new to this and if i am in wrong place, please please direct me to the right place to be with this one
thanks0 -

Hi there
Wishing you luck on your reclaiming.
Even if the monthly repayments are debited from BH, its always the ones who arranged and set up the policy's responsibility.
What I would do is contact the dealers and ask if they've received your reclaiming complaint.
If not then personally I would write to them direct.
Hope this helps, please keep us posted and fingers crossed.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi di3004,
thanks for your reply and the welcome.
yes the local dealer did ring me about this, I know him fairly well and was embarrassed that he rang me, i briefly told him that i was claiming the PPI and that it seemed that BH was passing the buck. The agreement was signed at his premises and nothing was asked about the insurance but was included on paperwork. I bought car in 2005 over 4 years, so it is actually finished as of last year, but i have only heard about PPI reclaiming within the last 2-3 months, so i had to find my paprework etc to check it out.0 -

Hiya
Your welcome.
So did the dealer confirm they were going to investigate?
They should make a decision by 8 weeks.
Glad you checked it out, good one.
Hope they send you a favourable decision, but if they don't, they may give you an opportunity to write back with any further information, or they may give a final decision straight away, if your not happy with it then you can make a complaint to the Financial ombudsman service.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, i dont think so, as i told him that it was BH i was claiming off, i have my copy of agreement & BH also included a copy of agreement with their letter also.
So do i have to go after the dealer instead and not BH after all. If i do, it will not go down very well with him especially as i know him fairly well since i purchased car, i bought car off a family member but they done the paprerwork for it to raise the HP0 -
sounds like i have a complete mess of it and would actually stop it if it comes to that, even though i do need the money back again as does everyone else0

Hi
Well normally it is those who set the policy up, but what you could do to be on the safe side is contact the FOS as a normal query by giving them a ring, explain your situation and they will be able to confirm who you should pursue, you could also ask them to write to them on your behalf if you want to.

Does this make it any easier for you perhaps? The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
