PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi there,
I sent letters off on the 24th September to HSBC, Mint, Egg, Sainsbury's bank and Capital One, requesting information on all of the insurance and charges which have been added to current and previous loans and credit cards.
I enclosed postal orders for £1 in all of the letters (appart from Egg and Sainsbury's where £10 was included for SAR).
I've received a letter from Capital One today saying they can provide detials, however I need to pay £5 for this. They also have stated that the £1 send orignally is being credited to my account- obviously they've not read the letter I originally sent, as it was clear that the £1 was for the cost of the information!!
Can they really request £5 for this? I was under the impression that £1 would cover it- especially as I'm still a customer with them.
Also, how long should this information take to come through- I posted all on the 24th September, and so far have only had this response from Capital One!
Thanks loads in advance
Hi there
Normally its £1 for just the copy of the agreement and for a full SAR its that of £10, don't know where £5 comes into it, unless its just for a few statements without the SAR, baffled!
You could contact the Information Commissioners office (ICO) who will confirm this to you.
https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx
They will be able to confirm.
http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_organisations/data_protection.aspx
For just the agreement request its normally 12 days, some say 14, and SAR its 40 calendar days.
Did you request for the full sar as on template shown here?
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
However, an SAR is an SAR.
Do contact the above ICO for any further details on this, where they should be able to confirm anything you need to know.
When you come to reclaiming, its just completing the reclaiming questionnaire, send to whoever responsible for setting it up, keep copies of all you send and receive, this they have 8 weeks.
Good luck, please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi
They have 8 weeks, if you hear nothing by the time 8 weeks have passed then you can try making a complaint to the financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Good luck, please keep us posted, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi there, you are better off leaving this loan with ppi as is is.If you cancel the ppi you have to take a new loan at a longer term and sometimes higher interest, leaving the loan as it is will have no effect on your claim at all.Good luck with this and keep us posted x.
Oh thank you so much... i was afraid that if i kept the PPI it would affect the claim!! thanks a million, ill keep you posted xx0 -

Hi everyone
I just thought I would let you all know that I phoned the FOS today to ask for an update in my complaint which started on 14/3/09 and the FOS have been dealing with it since 23/7/09, I was told by the FOS that they agreed with my xomplaint and so did the RBOS and that I would get confirmation within a couple of days.
I want to say to those that are worried about the length of time it's taking not to worry too much, it will get resolved albeit eventually, I am just delighted that it has been found in my favour and this has lifted a great deal off my mind
Keep on fighting people, it will be worth it at the end
Many thanks to those in this forum for all the advice they have given not only to myself but to everyone else, you are all superstars for taking the time to answer even the most inane questions.
Take care everyone and remember, the PPI money belongs to you

Hello, can someone advise me?
I just got a telephone call out of the blue. The person said the company name was PPI claims and they were calling because I could be owed money from loans I took out in the past. Well, I did have two loans, for small amounts, one of which was paid back long ago, and the other is still running. I did have PPI on the latter but I made a claim which ended up being a payout for a paltry £30 or so (I was no longer able to worl due to husband's diablity). I don''t know if the other loan (Natwest) had PPI.
I am verty suspicious; usually I don't take cold calls at all. The guy said he wants nothing from me; thay they will call me back in 15vminutes with info on if I can make a claim and how much; and they will send me some paperwork.
Is this legit or not? I have not given them any information they can use.0 -
No Amersall, the FOS didn't mention that at all, they just said that they agreed with my complaint and so did my bank.
This doesn't mean that the bank will now refuse to refund me my money because of this court case will it even though they agreed that my PPI WAS mis-sold?0
