  • I wrote to egg to complain about the repayment protection they've been charging me. Got the following reply...

As you're possibly aware Egg was fined due to the way PPI was sold during a certain period of time to certain customers.

Egg has identified these customers' accounts and they've been contacted.

You applied for the Egg Card in January of 2004 over the phone, unfortunately you do not fall in the time band of when the protection was sold incorrectly for an investigation to be done.

The FSA have ruled that the Policy's sold between 14 January 2004-17 December 2008 we possibly sold incorrectly.

For this reason you're not affected and we wont be able to refund an payment already made.

Should you need to contact me again, please feel free.

Am I to presume that because I was sold the policy during the first two weeks of January I wasn't mis-sold the insurance? Surely these are the very same salepersons that were doing the same job two weeks later. Sent them leeter two, threatening the FOS.

Egg are a joke! Any advice from people on what they would do.

Cheeky lot. How can they say it was not miss sold just because it was not in the time constraints specified. I would as you have done send a second letter re-iterate your concerns and tell them you are going to take it to the FOS. If YOU believe you have reason to complain that it was miss sold do not put up with any of their old tat..

Let us know how you get on.;)

You seem to have done the right thing here in sending letter number two. Just have to wait now with fingers crossed. It is annoying when there is only days or weeks in the time scales that they were fined for. (even years!!!)

Good luck and keep us posted.
  • My response...

I do not feel your letter has offered a satisfactory justification that my policy was sold fairly, reasonably and within my best interests so I request that you look into my complaint again. Regardless of whether my complaint fits into your time bracket it still requires investigation. From your statement I am to assume that my protection was sold fairly when one week or two later it was sold unfairly! I surely cannot be expected to believe this response.

If I do not receive a more favorable response within 14 days I shall be taking my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.

Oh I thought you had other ones. At least they have not returned your SAR;)

I'm still waiting for EGG, I think the ICO are as busy as FOS at the minute, ICO are dealing with complaints from June 08:eek:

Think I might just have to go to EGG and do the job myself:rotfl:
