Hey Just a quick update on my last post above.

Took the advice of di3004 and sent an email to Eric Daniels at Lloyds, two days later I received a letter from Customer Services to say the the CIO Eric Daniels had told them to send me the figures and that I was to receive the 8% interest that I had asked for. I have signed the slip of paper accepting the offer and the money should be in my account in 14 days. Thanks so much to di3004 for the advice and to Martin for this fantastic web site. Carry On Claiming!:T

    Your very welcome:A;).

    Well done to you!:beer:X

help i think i am being fobbed off by ikea and what to know what my next move should be please

they sent me a letter today responding to my ppi claim letter and it goes as follows

our records show that your account was opened in april 2001. at the time payment protection was not sold by members of staff in store but was an opt in requeston the ikea homecard application form which would be indicated by a tick in the relevant box by the customer. i have enclosed a copy of the application form for your records. (ppi box is ticked)

upon acceptance full details of the policy including the exclusions and cancellation terms were supplied to you, each month the premium has been detailed on your ikea homecard statement and you have recieved insurance cover for the duration of the policy. therfore ikano financial services are unable to refund the premiums for payment protections insurance already charged. i confirm the policy has now been cancelled

on the paperwork where the payment protection tick box is it says " we recommend you protect your payments in the event of sickness accident or redundancy as well as covering your outstanding balance if you die. it costs only 72p for each 100 of your outstanding balance. would you like to take out this important cover. please tick"

reading that as a single parent at the time told me i definately needed it

    what next?

    Hi Hannah

Was it a hand tick or an automated one?

Was you employed at the time of taking this out?

I would give the FOS a ring on this and ask on the best direction to take on this - if this was the final decision.

If this was not the final decision, it may be worth you writing back and ask them to reconsider.

But otherwise contact the FOS anyway and if they are unable to deal with this one, ask about the underwriters/insurers of the business.

Good luck Hannah, please let us know how you get on, cheers.;)

it was a hand tick and yes i was employed at the time of taking this out. it shows this on the agreement. it was filled in instore alonside a member of staff and i distinctly remember asking them about it. i was advised to tick it as although i was employed i was a single parent at the time, even on the paperwork it is recommended but does not state that cover can be bought elsewhere or the fact you may be covered if employed

this was just the first response after sending in the questionairre

    Hi Hannah

Maybe then you could write back and ask them to reconsider, if you feel it was pressurised onto you, then make them aware of this as well.
You could also make a point of informing them that you are aware that the FSA are punishing companies for not investigating complaints properly and for rejecting genuine complaints, so if you feel they have treated yours this way then do mention this too and ask them if they could take your reasons and any further information into consideration.;)

Around 18 months ago- I finally started the process of getting debts in order.

I went through the whole reclaiming process and got letters saying Lloyds were investigating my claim and after a couple of months they wrote to say they believed I was asked in a phone conversation with the bank if I wanted PPI and I agreed. I know this didn't happen as I always made a point of never adding any extra payments as I wasn't affording what I already had to pay as it was. Nothing was ever sent to me to confirm this either.

They then went on to say that had attempted to check their recorded calls/ written records and they were unable to find anything about the PPI and that because they had no evidence that I said no on the phone to someone selling me PPI then they had to assume that I had said yes (!!!) and that the complaint was not being upheld!!

This seemed an utterly absurd piece of logic to me!

From here I meant to to take it forward but had lost heart a little and eventually it got forgotten about until recently.
I'd read a lot about how companies- and especially Lloyds - were rejecting people straight away and they had been pulled up on this by the Ombudsman.

So using the new PPI claiming form from MSE I decided to reattempt claiming- as now they actually had to take my complaint seriously - which they didn't seem to before!
I sent off all the paperwork last Friday and today...

LLOYDS ACCEPTED THAT THEY WERE IN THE WRONG!!!! AND WILL BE REFUNDING ME!!! YAY!!!

The letter said that the records relating to the sale of my PPI were 'incomplete' and on that basis the only fair result was to refund me! (Of course the records were incomplete, I never asked for, wanted or signed for PPI! They basically admitted they stole from me for 13 months!)

They sent a form for me to sign and send back and then the total refund would be calculated and paid.

I just have a question - in my paperwork with my claim I included the total charged plus total with 8% interest.
But the PPI was charged on a Credit Card with a much higher interest charge - 20 odd %- that I was heavily in debt to.

What are Lloyds likely to do? Take into account the fact I paid x% of interest on the PPI or only pay the 8% I claimed. I only thought about this today after coming on here to check what happens next!

I'm obviously really happy that I'm getting the money back - around £250:) -
but after 3 years of constant phone calls over my credit card - awful customer service- have to ask 13 times for them remove my parents phone number (honestly!)- PPI I never asked for - Interest on this PPI - Charges for being over my limit due in part to them taking the PPI in the first place....
I really want the most I can get from them.
Lloyds have been an utter nightmare.

Rant over... What do people think?

And YAY!!! for a refund!!! lol

Just a quick one to say that last Friday I received £226 from Lloyds for the PPI they missold me!! It took 21 days to get the letter telling me how much they were giving me back and the money was in my account 6 days later!

    RESULT!!:j

Thanks for everyone's help with this! The money's gone on paying the last part of my River Island Store Card which I haven't used since 2003 but was racking up interest and charges until I agreed a payment plan with them last October.

    Another card bites the dust!!:T:T:T
    Debt Total Oct 2007 £19,750
Finally Debt Free June 17th 2013!!!

  • Hi All
    I'd like some advice please.
I'm thinking about reclaiming PPI on our mortgage.
I took out the mortgage with the PPI back in March 2002. The PPI ran upto 2007....i think.
I have no paperwork anymore on the PPI.
Both the mortgage and PPI were set up by an Independant Financial advisor who worked for Brandford & Bingley at the time. The PPI was with Scottich Provident.
Who do I send my letter of claim to????...The guy who mis-sold me the PPI or Scottich Provident who I had the PPI with???
    Thanks

    Lee
