PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi All
I'd like some advice please.
I'm thinking about reclaiming PPI on our mortgage.
I took out the mortgage with the PPI back in March 2002. The PPI ran upto 2007....i think.
I have no paperwork anymore on the PPI.
Both the mortgage and PPI were set up by an Independant Financial advisor who worked for Brandford & Bingley at the time. The PPI was with Scottich Provident.
Who do I send my letter of claim to????...The guy who mis-sold me the PPI or Scottich Provident who I had the PPI with???
Thanks
Lee
Hi Lee and welcome
I think this is one that Dunstonh should be able to help and advise on.
Keep within these reclaiming threads, but if you can start off a new thread of your own with the subject "Mortgage ppi help", then dunstonh should be along at some point today.;)
Good luck on this.

Hi folks hope all is well.....looking for a couple of bits of advice.
I'm looking to reclaim as due to a pre-existing condition the insurance was useless.
1: I have docs going back to 1995 and have totalled the payments up do I just photocopy and send them off asking for repayment ? or is there a specific step to follow.
2: In one case the provider was Intelligent Finance underwritten by Pinnacle....who do I send any correspondance to ?
Thanks in advance for all your help you great people ! :T0 -

i tried egg without a credit card number although i did find the last 4 digits on an old online statement so sent that with a load of stars in front! i asked for a copy of my agreement but told me they were not at liberty to give me this info now the account was closed. i am still trying for a claim though
good luck

Hi there
Another from Wales then?:D
Right, do you still have hold of any monthly statements?
The account numbers will be shown on them, or if you have the credit card still hanging around, they will be shown on them too.
But you could give it a go if mis sold the ppi if you just have hold of the account numbers.
Otherwise you could request for the cheapest way, for copies of your agreeements by giving them as much info/details as possible, full name, any address you had whilst taken them out, your date of birth, oh and any changes to your surname.
For this you just write a simple letter, enclose £1 cheque or postal order for each one, and ask they supply by 12-14 days.
However, they don't always supply these if the accounts have been settled.
The only other way to retrieve your data is to request a Subject access request (SAR), this you have to enclose £10 cheque or postal order, and they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they still hold on the account(s), if they are unable to comply to the SAR, they must write to let you know and return your payment.
There is a SAR template letter here:

More on reclaiming here, with stage one reclaiming questionnaire, which replaced the reclaiming template letter:

Hope this helps, any further help just give a yell, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Just a quick update. Have had a letter today from Lombard Direct basically saying that they are not going to reopen my complaint. They also state that as my expiry time to refer to the FOS has expired, that the FOS may not deal with this for me. Is this true? I am going to send on to FOS anyways. Nothing to lose.0

We were declared bankrupt in Sept 2009 (discharged Mar 2010), as the house had already been handed back to the mortgage company the First Plus loan was included in the bankruptcy order as unsecured lending.
The protection on the First Plus secured loan was sold to us on the basis of 'if you dont use it you get it refunded after 5 years so it'll be like a savings account that pays out a lump sum bonus'.
Would we still be eligible to reclaim the PPI costs even though the loan was included in our bankruptcy?Hi there, i am afraid you wont, as the criteria for this payback is that you have to have had no arrears at the time of the payback, you could claim mis sell (as all fp loans were) but fp will take that if there was a shortfall of the loan at the time of bankrupcy. Also you would not have been paying ppi as the loan wasnt being paid back so i would think the insurance would be nul and void.I could be wrong and if someone else knows more, i am sure they will post up.0 -

Hi Sparky, sorry to hear this.
Please remind us the of then you received the final decision?
The FOS are able to investigate complaints by 6 months of the final date of the last decision, where the details/leaflet of the FOS are enclosed.
However, if you have good reason, maybe personal reasons of why you could not make that complaint to the FOS within that timescale, they may consider investigating your complaint for you.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
