    Hi everyone.

Im completely new this and dont know whether this is going in the right place but what the hay.
I sent the ppi letter from this website to Welcome Finance in april and after resending it a couple of times a got a letter dated 8th of july saying they would uphold my claim and made me an offer. Happy just to get something back i accepted the offer and was told it would take around three weeks to process it and then they would repay £2500!!.
I thought this was to good to be true and sure enough I still havent had my money. In the last 10 days I have spent nearly 5 hours on hold trying to get through to them and when i do they fob me off, they sent another offer letter for me to sign last week and i sent it back recorded, rang up this morning and they said they haven't opened the recorded mail yet!.

Anyway to cut a long story short I want to know if I can reclaim late payment charges that I have picked up whilst I have actually been in credit (due them admiting they misold the ppi)? I also want to know what I can do to hurry them up? its really begining to grate on me to the extent that I go to bed thinking about it!

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi there

    First of all well done.

I am not sure on the late charges side of it, but maybe get this done with first and deal with that later in case it messes the reclaim up, and maybe someone will know of your best action on this.

You could write a letter to the Manager of Welcome and explain your situation, I do not know the name of the manager but address it "To The Manager" and use the same address, unless anyone can clarify on the address to the Manager's office.

    Keep at them, good luck.;)

  • I feel I was missold the PPI by the dealer (Perrys Peugeot) when I purchased my car 4 years ago.

Having finally received a policy summary and other documentation from the provider (St Andrews which at the time was part of Bank of Scotland, now taken over by LLoyds so now dealt with by their 'Black Horse' branch), I contacted them (with the help of moneysavingexpert) saying I believe this PPI was missold and that I want a full refund of the premiums.

I have now received their reply, that they do not accept the claim on the basis that they did not sell the PPI, the car dealership did, and have referred me back to the dealer.

I'm now very confused. I thought that although it was sold by the dealer, this was on behalf of the PPI provider and therefore, the provider is ultimately responsible. Where do I go from here? Do I pursue Perrys or Black Horse/Lloyds?

    Hi there

Whoever arranged the finance when this was set up and sold to you is the ones you pursue.

What you could do is contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) explain to them and they will tell you the ones you should be making a reclaim with, this is to just double check in case you get the runaround again.
The FOS have a general query line.....free
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

Give them a call and make sure on this, please keep us posted, good luck.;)

  • Hey,

Over the past 6 years, I have had a few loan agreements which may have included PPI. I have not been employed and would have only been recieving incapacity benefit and DLA this past 14 years approx. I just want to clarify if someone in my situation should ever have been sold PPI in the first place? And would I be entitled to claim it back?

    Many thanks

Hi and welcome and if i were you I would make a reclaim, because I'm sure you would not have been protected and the ppi was worthless to you, especially if unemployed and on IB and DLA.

You can make a reclaim by either writing a letter, ask them to refund you all you have paid in ppi and the interest, due to the reasons you have give above, tell them it was worthless to you and it obviously was not sold to you in your best interest, ask that they get back with a decison by 8 weeks, or you will make a complain to the financial ombudsman service (FOS) with the evidence you have for your complaint.

Or you can complete a FOS questionnaire that was issued by these themselves for this purpose of reclaiming, complete, and send to whoever set up your loan, and keep a copy in case you need to refer to it later on, you can write a cover letter as above to enclose with this FOS questionnaire if you want to or do one or the other.

The FOS questionnaire on link below - further down the page as stage one:

Ask for further help if required, good luck, you have a good case here and in my opinion this should be straight forward, the policy obviously wasn't discussed with you, or you would have known then that you would not have been eligible.

    Good luck.;)

  • hi

have had a few positive outcomes from various companies U have claimed PPI and CC from over the last year. But in the past I have 4-5 different loans from the clydesdale bank starting back in 1997. Do you think I could start the process of trying to reclaim PPI on these loans.

I definately do not have any of the paperwork so I need to visit my local branch where I took the loans out. How can I do this if I dont have any paperwork or account numbers etc. I have an old current account number to which these loans would have been paid into, would that help??

Also, the last loan I took out with them was, in the end, added into my Trust Deed that I took out in 2006 and completed 2009, could I include that loan inwith my claim??? I still paid the PPI on the loan, so surely I am entitled to it back??

THanks again for any help, not been around for a while but still seeing some familiar names on here!!

    Hi there

If you any old banking statements from when you were paying the loans monthly repayment, the account numbers should be shown next to them.

Or you could try by asking the bank if they still hold these details, by just having the account numbers can help.

Lots on here have made successful reclaims from older loan ppi's, so if you can manage to get hold of any info from any of those accounts, then go for it.

You could request a SAR, but generally these only go back the last 6 years, but on the other hand some have still been lucky to have received data going back to even earlier years, its a chance you take really, but if they are unable to supply you with anything, then they must return your payment of £10 made for the SAR back to you normally with a letter to explain.
    There is a SAR template "if you want to go this direction" here;
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

Or contact them first and see if there is anything at all they still hold, maybe they will supply free of charge.

    Good luck.;)

Please dont cancel the insurance... your friend will get a loan over a new term with higher interest rate, it is best to see if he wins mis sell. if he does he is quids in, the ppi will be taken off the loan and restated as it would have been without ppi, so the loan payment is reduced and the term stays the same. He will get back ppi paid to date with interest. please hang fire and see what happens with mis sell.

Hi, are you sure on this one?

The letter he received said that the new restructured loan will be on the same basis/interest rates/time frame honoured.

We were planning on going in on Saturday to discuss things and to see how a new loan might look... walking away there and then if it didn't look any good.

In addition to this his claims have been with HSBC for 4 weeks now, he's received a 2nd letter saying the same as the one received last week.. just that they are investigating and will get back to him in the next 28 days

    thanks

  • HI all i'm looking for some advice! i took out a £10000.00 loan with Northern Rock in November 2005. It was done over the ineternet then i had to phone them to confirm some more details. They had 3 levels of ppi protection bronze, silver and gold. I was told that the gold level would be of my best interest as i would befully covered if i lost my job (that level was the only one that had unemployment with it as well as sickness and accident). In November 2007 i was made redundant and then a few weeks later i found out i was pregnant. I had already sent off for the information to claim on the insurance but read in the t&c when they came through taht i had to in reciept of job seekers and activley seeking employment. This was obv not the case as i was a sinlge parent, 2 children already and pregnant with my 3rd and could only claim income support. So obviously the insurance was a total waste of money. Needless to say that 12months after i had to have my loan recalculated as my payments were £213.98 a month. I dont have the original paper work for the £10000.00 loan! would i be able to try and claim?
    Any advice would be great

    Hi and welcome

I would certainly give it a go with your reasons you have.

All you do is complete the FOS questionnaire (not to get this confused with the FOS complaints form), complete and send to NR and keep a copy for yourself in case you need to refer to it later on, for example, if your not happy with the final outcome you can then make a complaint to the FOS by using the FOS complaints form, but also enclose a copy of the questionnaire you sent to make a reclaim to them as well.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond, sometimes they ask for more time, that is fine, just as long as they keep you updated.

The FOS questionnaire is on link below - further down the page as stage one......
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You can write a letter in your own words if you want to instead, the questionnaire did actually replace the first reclaiming template on this site, but if you want to write a letter instead that is up to you of course.

All you do is write to request they refund you all you have paid in PPI and interest, give your reasons, and ask that they comply by 8 weeks, then go on to say if your not given a favourable decision, you will consider making your complaint with your evidence to the Financial ombudman service (FOS).

Or if you want to do both that is also up to you.

Hope this helps, good luck and please keep us posted.

If you can manage to post it by recorded delivery as well, this is your proof of posting.;)
