Good luck on your complaint. They cannot close your account for "their" mistakes.0 -
marshallka wrote: »Hiya Anna, sorry not had time to look back over your posts but have you complained already and them say it was not missold? If you have then I would take this one to the CEO perhaps as well as making another complaint to the firm and maybe you will get your complaint looked at quicker. IF they let this one go to FOS they are fools really!!!
Hi Marshallka,
I haven't put a claim in yet (I was waiting for the copy of the signed credit agreement) as I was about 99% sure that I didn't want PPC. Now I have it in black and white! I also remember, years ago that I phoned 'customer services' to ask what the PPC was on my statement only to be told "I had to have it". I was financially naive back then and reluctantly accepted it. I am still waiting for my MBNA SAR but I think I have enough ammo with my signed agreement to send the questionnaire off. Should be very interesting.0 -
marshallka wrote: »Blimey, does the letter have any details of the customer? I bet they would actually be concerned that this data had been mistakenly released to you TBH rather than to warn you of closing your accounts. If you have run your account within the terms etc then you could always complain (but I doubt you will ever have to if you have) as this is not treating you fairly. I complained to my bank that I bank with now and they have still allowed the overdraft which after winning our complaint actually came in very handy last year when my dog was ill and I had no option than to use the facility. I would write back to them and make it known that they have leaked personal information of another customer to you and I bet they will actually be very apologetic.
Good luck on your complaint. They cannot close your account for "their" mistakes.
Hi marshalkaremember "those senior moments"? think you just had one :rotfl::rotfl: the op was sent a questionaire by the co op, with the letter about closing another customers account enclosed with this.:D I am afraid if i was that customer i would kick up a stink, if i were op i would take this to whoever (dont know):o you send info to about breach of data protection, this is bloody disgusting

i have had an ikea card for about ten years, i recall at the time being a single parent and being told that as i had no partner i had to have ppi added on as if i became out of work for any reason i would not get the card as there was no other means of paying it back.
i have no paperwork for this anymore except the odd recent bill. i have asked them to take the ppi off recently. just had this months bill and its still on there.
questions: do i have a case to claim this back from over the years?
do i just write to them telling them i want to claim the whole amount i have paid out?
do i need to know the full amount myself? if so what do i need to ask for from them to enable me to add it up?
sorry just dont know where to start with this
thanks hannah0 -

Hi Hannah
They should not have made you take it out, and should have let you decide, okay its best to be protected but you may not have been eligible if you were not employed or for other reasons etc.
Basically - just as long as you have the card account number you can continue to make a reclaim.
Hopefully they will go back all the way from when you taken the policy out.
You do not need to write down or know the amounts yourself, but if your successful it would be useful for them to send you a detailed written breakdown.
What you could do though, if you do not have the agreement, is to write a simple letter, ask that they supply by 12-14 days a copy of the agreement, write the account number, and make them aware you have enclosed £1 cheque or postal order for this request.
If you did require any further paperwork, you can request a SAR (Subject Access Request), this is optional, but you enclose £10 cheque or postal order, and they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they hold on your account.

To make a reclaim, just complete the FOS questionnaire, these were recently issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS), and in replacement of the first template reclaiming letter on this site, keep copies in case you need to refer to it later on.
They have 8 weeks to give a decision, but sometimes they write back and ask for more time, this is okay, they should also then give you a timescale of when you should hear of a decision.
You will find the questionnaire, as stage one further down the page as stage one.
