Hi there
Sorry to hear this, but its not the end of that yet.
Even though they were not members GISC prior to the FSA, lots of us have been caught in this trap, but the actual insurer of the lender would have been members, so where the FOS are unable to adjudicate complaints if they were not regulated, they have been suggesting to people to go the insurer direction instead.
So in your case, give the FOS a ring anyway, explain your situation, then if they do not mention anything about the insurer/underwriter mention it to them, tell them you hear that many are going this direction instead as another avenue to take to try to get your money back.
I have been in the same position as you and so have lots of others on here.
Anyway, for the insurer/underwriter details, you write to them the same way as you did with the broker etc, and if they say not then go to the FOS, as they will be able to investigate against the insurer.
The FOS are also trying to make the insurer responsible, due to the fact that when you are sold the finance, the insurer/underwriters check the details and must make sure your eligible before selling you the policy.
If you do not have the Insurer policy details, then write to the lender and they will or should provide them to you on request.
Do give the FOS a ring though if you can, I'm sure they will be able to advise.
Good luck.;)
Please let us know how you get on, cheers.
Oh sorry, missed that bit, how long ago was the other loan taken out?
If longer than 6 years, they may not hold the details, again this will also depend on how long ago this was settled, if settled within the last few years they should hold something.
However, is you have the account number, just go for it, you never know they may even send you details of your loan with a response letter.
OK,
Finally heard back from the insurer after putting it a claim against them as the one against the brooker came back with a NO.
This one has also come back as NO !
They say ;
Your complaint relates to the sale of your PPI policy rather than our role as an insurer, we are very sorry you feels this way ..... etc etc.
We have sent a copy of this letter to M & S Money who made the sale to make sure they are fully aware, if you have not already, you should refer your complaint to them.
To avoid any doubt, and without prejudice to any of the comments made above, we do not consider that this is a complaint against Allianz ( formerly Cornhill ) in its role as underwriter.
As you will see from my pevoius post M&S say that they are not responsible either, so they both claim its not their fault !
So, what now ? Do I put in a claim to the FSO ?
The insurer did get me to fill in all of the FSO forms and send them to Allianz when i put the claim into them as underwriters, why did they do this, shall i just do it all over again and send to the FSO ?
Help Please

Hi Ant
Sorry to hear this.
9/10 the insurer will not take any responsibility but at least now when you contact the FOS, you can state you have already tried.
As the FOS are trying to make insurers liable as well, they would therefore be willing to take on your case to investigate anyway, as the insurer would have been regulated/governed.
So even though this is one of the avenues the FOS would have asked you to take anyway, you have now done so and can continue through the FOS.
You can do this by either ringing them and deal with this over the phone or complete the FOS complaint form online.;)
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
You will find the FOS complaint form on their website, make sure you don't get confused with the FOS payment protection Questionnaire form.;)
Good luck.
Also just to let you know, mine was the same result as yours, but the FOS will be willing to take a look and try to deal with the company from here once you complain, remember to enclose a copy of the letter you received from the insurer as well.:)

Hi there,
Wondered if anyone could help? Had PPI with
GE money since 1998 but unfortunately can't go through the FOS as they weren't a registered company then. Would like to go through the moneyclaims online route but wouldn't know how to go about it. Any ideas out there?0
