There is something really wrong with this, that is a long time to wait, i dont know of anyone who has waited this long (only if the company went insolvent) if it is of any consolation to you, i won with fp last year cannot remember the time scale but i had to claim financial hardship. When i phoned fos 2 weeks after i put in for financial hardship, i was told they were waiting for it to be passed to an adjudicator, and imagine my shock when on the friday i recieved a letter from fos upholding my claim and had to wait for fp to contact me.Didnt take too long after for me to get cheque.Just hang on in there and fingers crossed for you x

Thank you for your words of comfort.
I will update you as and when I hear any news.:o

I agree amersall, something not right about waiting all that time......

Yes I was thinking the same thing, and yet I don't think they will admit it, they came across it later on, and realistically they should get on with this one now if this is the case me thinks......

If it was 'lost' then I would have thought that the FOS would be doing their utmost to get it sorted and out of the back log.
My case is certainly not good P.R. for anyone.

The quote below is from the FOS website................

'On average, we resolve around 50% of complaints informally at the earliest stage. 40% of complaints go on to the stage that may require an investigation and a more formal report, setting out our recommendations. Only about 10% of complaints need an individual final decision by an ombudsman – although ombudsmen are also involved indirectly at all earlier stages, to make sure their approach to different types of complaints is followed consistently at all times.
We aim to resolve most disputes within six to nine months – and we settle a third of cases within three months. But how we allocate and prioritise cases is affected by the number and type of complaints that consumers refer to us'.

I appreciate that the FOS has been snowed under with PPI complaints but there is rather a large difference between 6 to 9 months and 2 and a half years....................and counting.

Its maddening isn't it, waiting twice over these procedures really.....
Well they should defo get on with this due to your circumstances, and of course I know its nice to hear of others successess in a quick time that have been dealt with by the FOS, but makes you think why your still in that waiting queue.........its mad!!

    Hello Martin,

I have been given a refund of my original premium+interest by Barclays as a gesture of goodwill, I took a loan in 2001 and finish the loan repayment in 2008. The premium was added to the loan(cash loan) for seven years, I have now made a complaint to the FOS for Barclays to pay for the statutory compensation in view of the fact that I have been deprived of the use of this money for 7 years(84 years), do you think I have chance of winning or not? Thanks for help and co-operation.

    Hi Di
Hope your ok. I sent a letter to barclaycard and asked for my orignal terms and conditions and now I have them. I then sent the template letter asking for a breakdown of my insurances charges and today I received a letter asking for a £10 cheque so they can release this information. Is this correct please? once again thankyou in advance for your great advice.
