Just wondered what the members take be would on Marks & Spencers ppi misselling .... YOU RECEIVED A CERTIFICATE WHICH STATED WHAT WAS COVERED ETC., IF YOU FELT THAT YOUR CONDITION WAS NOT COVERED, YOU SHOULD HAVE INFORMED US UPON RECEIPT OF THE CERTIFICATE .... does this mean that I have no recourse? Unfortunately, my water tank burst and all my documents were ruined. When I tried to separate them when wet, they tore, when I dried them, they were as if they were pasted together! They were covered in red dye, and I tried to phone everyone that I could think of to request replacements, but my certificate is not there! Is that an acceptable excuse? Is the onus on me?

If its within the last 6 years you had taken this out, then it should not be a problem for them to send you a copy.

If you have any problems in retrieving anything from these finance companies and its within the last 6 years, contact the information commissioner office (ICO) here:
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)

Hi, it's a very long story but in a nutshell I was miss-sold life insurance by the HSBC, to proceed with my claim I have been asked to get a quote for life insurance from 1994 so they can asses the compensation, I am finding this very difficult as you can imagine, has anyone got any ideas how I can get a quote for Life Insurance from 1994?

    Hi Rab

I do not know where you would actually stand in this case due to the year and hopefully someone will be along shortly to give their opinions on this.

I suppose there is no harm done if you feel you have a case, then to complain and reclaim.

I would see what other posters say first, good luck.;)

I find this a very bizzare thing that HSBC should ask you to do this. Should it not be there job to find out this info?

Why don't you ask them to refund the full amount you have paid from day 1 to date, if they are going to pay you compensation?

Normally in the case of PPI you would be refunded the full amount paid plus interest and interest at 8%. It sounds like it could work out the same for your life cover.

    Hi hayjamdan

    Hope your well.

I would request for the calculations of a settled loan in order to know what is what with the PPI, and interest etc.

If mis sold, they should aim to put you back in the position as if you did not take PPI and refund the amount paid, plus interest and charges occurred that have been paid.

That is just to my knowledge, but as mine have all been on settled finance, it may differ on active loans.
So in my case I received the full refund of PPI, interest occurred etc.

I am sure others will post about this here as well hun, so keep a watch on here.;)

    Hi
Thanks for your earlier replies, but I just want to pose the question ..... Is it my responsibility to check the insurance certificate when they issued it, even when the assistant knew about my condition and recommended that I take the ppi?
