Thanks hun, fingers crossed.

I sent my initial letter to Egg on 19-December-2008 which, according to Royal Mail was received by them on 22-December-2008.
I received a letter from them acknowledging my complaint, dated 09-January-2009. I have now received a letter dated 06-February-2009 saying that it has been 4 weeks since they received my complaint.
I phoned them today to be told that as far as they are concerned they received the letter on 09-January-2009 and it doesn't matter what Royal Mail say.
The woman said that the Financial Ombudsman takes the time that the complaint is received in the complaints office and not by the company. She couldn't understand my arguement that in order to avoid dealing with compalints, they could just keep moving post around internally forever!
I reckon the eight weeks is up on Monday 16-February-2009 but she tells me that they haven't even started to look at my complaint yet or accessed the original telephone application from their archives. The earliest I should expect any further reply will be 06-March-2009.
Any advice or suggestions what I should do next? Do I send the reminder on 16-February or do I bite the bullet (or Egg) and wait until at least 06-March-2009.

Hi David
I may be wrong here but its seems they are giving you the runaround.
Personally I would contact the FOS and explain what you have said above here
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html
Have you still got the post office receipt to confirm when they supposed to have received your letter?
And have you also checked if there was a signature.
They may have loads of complaints to deal with, which just proves this PPI mis selling issue, but in my opinion its from the time the letter is received, and yep 8 weeks.
So ring the FOS in the morning, and please let us know what they say in case you require any help through this good luck.;)

Hi
From my experience with Egg they are very good communicators. I received the same letter then a week later received an offer from them. I would not worry too much at this point, wait to see what they say first.Nyks Interest Beater £29/£2600 -

That is very good Sammy thanks for confirming this.;)
David, maybe you should wait until the normal timescale which you stated for next week, maybe they will get back with a good response, fingers crossed, obviously if the 8 weeks have passed and you have heard nothing, that is when you should be eligible to move this on to the FOS.
No harm in finding out the procedures though just in case, hopefully it will all be okay.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Sorry - that is what I meant to say - I will be waiting until next Tuesday after the post has been delivered. Then I'll give them a call.
Many thanks

Hello Icipience, hope you are having a good weekend.
There have been a few threads by posters saying they took out PPI because FirstPlus said it would help get the loan. But when they contact them about mis selling Firstplus say they didnt take out the PPI , have you come cross this before?
Am I not the only one that this has happened to?0
