I'm really not sure what to do now and could use some savvy advise. Short version - secured loan taken out with Hfs in Sept 04 through Paragon finance. PPI added to loan in the region of £2500. Have been trying to follow the rules and have written letters, been told, by paragon, its not our fault as we just provided the funds once it was sorted out by the broker Hfs (who are now owned by Capital One). Capital One say they don't see any mis-selling taken place, so went to FOS who can't help due to the fact that they weren't regulated at the time of the loan. I then went to a company who claim they can get the money back and they have just informed me that there is no claim they can follow becaouse Paragon is not supplying any information. This seems to be the story where ever I try - Paragon will not send information. Anyone got any advise where I can go now? Should I try Small Claims Court or just give up? Please give me some advise. Thanks
hi im in exacltly the same boat hfs/firstplus and i have been tod to go fo the underwriters hun

I have a feeling it will be this one at the bottom, but hopefully someone will clarify on this.

If you send by recorded delivery, they should pass this on to the correct dept for you anyway.
Hope this helps and the very best of luck with this one too.;)

i used to work for the post office and although parcels theoretically should go to the right dept, often they go to the right building and its down to them to send it upstairs etc. I spoke to my husband he also says this practice happens where he works. He is a security officer who has amounst other duties he deals with the mail regardless if special, registered, recorded etc. Not saying this happens everywhere though.

    Dont give up,
  • hi I was just wondering if someone could look at these figures for me as I have no idea of how much to expect back.
    Thank you

    Hi all
Just a quick update, I have sent everything off to the FOS as the bank were very unhelpful as to how much I could expect back, and I also want to be back in a postion of never having had any of the PPI's. Sent it last week haven't heard that they got it but did send it recorded delivery. Fingers crossed I can get a decent reply back so I can understand it all.

Help!! took loan out with lloyds 5 years ago and a couple of years ago defualted on a few payments due to marriage breakdown so it was passed to recovery where I set up a repayment plan of hundred and fifty pounds a month which i have been paying consistently for a year...

recently wrote to Lloyds to reclaim PPI and received a letter saying they were willing to refund, and were calculating a figure. They called me yesterday to say they were giving me 175 and the other 1,850 was going to be sent to recovery to be deducted off the actual loan..

Obviously I want the cash now rather than it oming off the load, as 2000 pounds is lot better than 175 if its money owed to me...

can they do this or can I insist they send me the full amount??

    Hi there
First of all well done .

Unfortunately if arrears owing they can do this, unless someone else can clarify, ask them to also send you a written calculated breakdown on the loan balance so you know how much is left owing, and obviously to make sure they have refunded the amount as stated to the account.
    Good luck.;)

hi there, if you have arrears they usually take this off the loan. if you are suffering hardship you could ask for it to be paid to you, but it would be down to the bank do you know if the arrears are less than the amount they are taking off the loan or is that what they are taking off? get in touch with lloyds and see what they say. you never know till you try

Yeah good thinking amersall, surely they should then reconsider on this due to the hardship reasons.:T
