    Hi there

I would definately give it a go.
Do you still have all the contact/address details?

    Go for it. ;)

    Hey there,

I got a lovely shock when I received a reply to my letter from the Northen Bank within 10-14 days. The first letter I received basically stated that they would look into my complaint and get back to me within 20 working days. Low and behold I received a 3 page letter from them on a week later. The first half of the letter basically was built up around the fact that it was optional, they did nothing wrong, I knew what I signed up to etc...
Then a massive HOWEVER. To resolve this matter, we are willing to refund all payments made to date to the tune of £2394.56, 8% stat interest of £250.64 and cancel my PPI which saves me roughly another £2300. ALL FOR THE PRICE OF A STAMP!!!!!! This was all of course a goodwill gesture..

So a massive thank you to this magical website and to anyone who messaged me back........

loan was for 5k... paid back over 3 years.

total i paid back was over 7500....

so roughly what of this will have been PPI?

just to give me an idea of what i may get back?

    Hi there

If successful and upheld in your favour then normally its treated as if you did not have ppi, so you should receive all the ppi paid, interest and request for 8% interest of what a court would award for being deprived of your money.

I am hopeless at workings out and always get others to check mine out, but if you want to post up some further details, of how many months to date or to settlement and so on, I'm sure someone will be able to check them out for you.

Meanwhile, check on how the FOS works out PPI refunds if your case was upheld in your favour here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1596473

Hope this helps until someone comes along to check your calcs out for you.

    Good luck.;)

    Hi everyone,

hope you don't mind me jumping on board.
My wife and I took out a £20,000 secured loan in November 2004 and settled it a year later in October 2005. We have each just recieved a letter from cardif pinnacle thanking us for our custom in relation to the PPI on the loan.
    ?????
So i read the letter and it relates to a first national secured loan and thells me if I have any queries to get in touch with ge money as the loan was with them.
So I phoned them this morning to ask what it was all about as I don't ever remember opting for PPI. The lady on the phone, advised me that she could not give me the insurance amount and that it was unlikely they had a copy of my agreement. After humming and harring for twenty minutes, she gave me a complaint number and an address to write to but said I'd have better luck speaking to priority 1 who brokered the loan (I've never even heard of these).
    I feel I'm completely lost.
After a bit of digging, priority one were loans.co.uk the total amount taken was a £20,000 loan and £5,400 insurance!!!! over 180 minths but paid off in 12 months. However when we paid it off we would have paid off the full insurance amount too as it was for the first 5 years.
    My thoughts now are to:
send a letter requesting my loan agreement.
send the 1st mis-sold template (but unsure of what to use as my reason - I think single premium policy paragraph because I paid it back early OR not given the correct info when the product was sold to me using the paying for insurance I did not know I had)
Which do you think is the correct option or would give me a better chance of success?

    thanks in advance

    Hi cagne
Feel free to jump in and post.:D;)

Normally its the ones who actually set up the loan you write to.

How long ago was it that you taken this out, if within the last 6 years and you have no paperwork, or if the account it still running they should still hold details of your loan.

However, just as long as you have an agreement number you can still continue to make a reclaim, but if you do require paperwork to check matters, an agreement is fine to request for but a Subject Access Request (SAR) is the one where they should send all they hold on your account.
The lender or broker should supply all the details to you.

For just requesting the agreement you enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment they have 12 days to supply this to you, and for the SAR its £10 postal order or cheque payment - this they have 40 days to comply.
SAR template letter with details here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

However, I see you have stated this have been settled, it makes no difference, whatever reasons apply to you - you write, it does not matter if there were 1 or 10 of them, write all that applies.

Of course these single policies are frowned upon.

More on reclaiming with useful info and guidelines here:

Hope this gives you some idea on this for you, please ask for help anytime, and please keep us posted, good luck.

Thank you so much. I have my policy number and it is a single policy with the insurance totally over £5k, let's just hope I can get some, if not all of this back. If I got it all that would be great and it would pay off all my unsecured debt.
I took it out in November 2004 so coming up to 6 years now.
How would I get intouch with the broker loans.co.uk ? any ideas?
