  • Hello, totally new to this! Hope you can help. I am a big fan of moneysavingsexpert, having successfully reclaimed bank charges. I am now in the process of trying to reclaim PPI. In November 2006 we took out a loan with Essential loans (brokers), the repayment inlcuded PPI which is £95 per month. It is only after checking the paperwork that we noticed that only my husband is covered, although we are both responsible for the repayments. As advised by MSE, I have sent the first reclaim letter to Firstplus, who took we took the loan with (brokered by essential loans). They have replied saying that essential loans have ceased trading, and because they had sold us the loan Firstplus are unable to investigate it. The have suggested we contact the FSCS. I would be grateful for any advise.

    Hi and welcome.

Some of us have been the FSCS direction due to businesses going down under, I would ring them to ask if they are listed with them, if so then they will arrange to send out a claim form to your address, you will then be given a ref number, depending if they are already in default or not will depend on how long you would wait for the payout.
Once the FSCS receives all the info from you it may be passed on to one of their side-line companies called Deloittes, they will then request for further information to work out what is what with the calculations.

First of all contact the FSCS here:
    http://fscs.org.uk/contact-us/

Then ask if the business are listed with them, and take it from there basically, but let us know either way cos we can move on to the following step from there, or feel free to post on the thread of "companies gone into default" here:

    Hi

I'm looking to reclaim ppi on a loan i had from egg which was paid off 18 months ago, i don't think i have any record of the account number for it, any ideas of how i would get a hold of this? If i ring egg do you think that they would be likely to give it to me?

    Thanks

    Hi Lisa

If you paid your loan out from your bank account every month then you should find the loan account number next to the repayments on your bank statements, or if you bank online this should allow you to go back as far as 6 years to check out the statements.
So just as long as you have the account number then with the reasons you have for being mis sold you can continue to reclaim on the PPI.

More on the link here of the guidelines of reclaiming:

However, do ask for help anytime, good luck.

    Hello Everybody

Just signed up today and thought I would pass on my experience,to date, with Capital One Credit Card.
I took out a card with Cap One in 2005 and could not remember whether I ticked the box for insurance or not and could not find my copy of the agreement.I wrote to Cap One asking for a copy of the agreement and they sent me a blank copy stating that personal details were omitted as 'permitted under Regulation 3 of the Consumer Credit (Cancellation Notices and Copy Documents) Regulations 1983.' I then telephoned them and requested a copy with my signature, date and details of the agreement. This copy shows that I took out the card in May 2005 and clearly indicates that I did not want payment protection. They ignored this instruction and took the premiums anyway. I have written to them requesting repayment of all the premiums plus interest at 8%. Does anybody think there is also a claim for compensation because of their 'illegal' actions?
Comments and advice would be much appreciated.

I'm sure now they should refund your ppi and interest etc.

I am not sure on the illegal action issues though, maybe someone will know, maybe you could try to complain on this separate to the ppi, and if they do not resolve by the usual 8 weeks complain to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).

Hopefully though someone may know the answer to this one for you, good luck with your claims.;)
