  • hi all, this is my first post

I have a cc with lloyds tsb took it out in 2002,when i took it out i was unemployed having had a baby and had no intention of going back to work, therefore they must have automatically added the ppi as it was no use to me and i would have said.

Last year i queried what it was as i thought it was insurance on goods purchased with the card duh! When i found out what it was i phoned and cancelled it as i was paying on average £70 a month sometimes more or less.

do you think i can claim this back as i have cancelled it?
Do they make you repay your cc if you claim?
How are lloyds to deal with as i dont see many good results from them?

can someone give me some advice please..many thanks in advance..

Thanks Di for your reply and all your wise words I really appreciate everyone on this site for all their support and help it makes it more worthwhile to carry on with the claims knowing you are not the only one waiting for your payment.

Not getting anywhere with WF either, still waiting on the payment been waiting since October my account manager assures me it will be dealt with by the end of February and it is the 23rd.....so when it is settled? They have 5 days....!

As for LCUK shower of con artists FOS still waiting on a reply re my 2nd loan posted on another forum a long winded moan... lol

Waiting on 1st cheque for 1st loan but they have sent the 2nd for a full adjudication so fingers crossed I get put back into the positin I was in before we took the PPI would really come in handy as car broke down last week was mortified hadnt had it out since the Sunday and the Thursday nite went out and it just packed in so had to wait for help nice kind man came into the garage I was in and jump started it for me its been fine since touch wood so the money would be useful for repairs to the house and the car lol

Oh well when I have something to report I will do hope everyone is fine x

    Hi hun

  • Hi - I received this offer a couple of days ago but am anxious to check it before i accept it as i don't trust them ha ha. I first started the ball rolling mid oct and just kept ringing the 0115 9849200 every week or so and requesting an update so I think they just got sick of me. good luck - hope you hear something soon!

    Hi there

You do have a good case here, and I was successful last year with a credit card PPI (LLoyds) taken out in 2001, with just on the childrens benefits.
However, expect them to write back and say you would have still been covered for job solutions, hospitalisation and life cover, the FOS looked at this dimly and upheld in my favour due to this, but why pay out for something that is not going to fully cover you, you have been out of pocket and deprived of your month so make sure you also write about this on the reclaiming letter too.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond.
More here on the guidelines of reclaiming, keep on at them, good luck and please keep us posted.

    Ask for help anytime too.:)

Hi all, this is 1st post so not sure if this is right. Please bear with me.

My husband contacted HSBC re: Cancelling PPI on his personal loan as he already had adequate cove with his job. After 2 letters, several phone calls and threatening to cancel his direct debit for loan payment they finally cancelled it. After having cancelled it they closed the old loan and re opened a new one without the PPI on it. They said this was part of the procedure to removing the PPI.
This was done (not easily may I add) and sorted out. When looking into it deeper we have now realised something is amiss.
The original loan comprised of £256.49 (principal loan) and £78.83 (PPI) totaling £335.32 a month.
The NEW loan is now £301.93 a month WITHOUT PPI!!!
Although they say the new loan has been calculated at the same APR and same terms we are confused at to why it is £301.93 a month.
We asked why and nobody has given a clear cut answer. We've had no PPI refund either.
Sent a complaint outlinning all of this to them and seen someone in the local branch.
Phoned HSBC after 8 week deadline and asked what was going on with regards to the queries and told it would now be a 12 week period before an outcome as they are experiencing high levels of complaints regarding this.
Now gone to ombudsman after having sent off a form to them. They have said they will send a letter to HSBC giving them 14 days to respond or they will open a full investigation into it.
HAS anyone else had this problem with HSBC?
We are sure they've got it all wrong and should go in our favour.
To make matters worse they have now LOST the original loan paperwork with the PPI on it outlining withat it should be without PPI. THey claim it got damaged in a flood. Would this give us the right to deem it as un-enforcable credit.
Any help would be much appreciated in this.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you put in an actual complaint for misselling or only asked to cancel your PPI. Looking at the values you have quoted, it looks like HSBC have cancelled your PPI, given you a rebate for the remaining PPI and refinanced the remaining balance.

You need to send a complaint to HSBC Customer Quality team in Leeds (address in the Sticky: A to Z of bank addresses). You will also find template letters to help you. Send by recorded mail to ensure they receive it.

I helped a friend with a complaint and hers was resolved quite quickly. She received an offer letter within 4 weeks and a few days later went into her bank to sign for the loan excluding PPI and then got refunded payments made to date. her new payments totally excluded PPI.

Good luck, hope it is sorted soon!

    Hi there

No its not a silly question :D;)

There are insurances are such the same, but maybe known as MPPI, for mortgage payment protection insurance.

    Hope this helps.:)

    Your very welcome.

To what I am aware of, yes you can.;)

Dunstonh who posts on here deals with lots of others on here who have issues with mortage PPI, if you want to, start your own separate thread for this as well, where Dunstonh is sure to be along at some point to help you through this with some useful advice for you.

    Good luck.

I have done a PPI reclaim on my loan (successfully :D:D:D) and my dad was wondering whether he could reclaim the PPI on his old loan (he has a "feeling" he had some on there :rotfl:) so i think i'll do a bit of digging and find out!

    thank you! :j
