  • I took out finance on the purchase of a new car in june 2006 and was asked very few questions - in fact the only one about whether I'd qualify is "Are you employed(working more than 16 hours per week), self-employed or not working?"

As I was a student working 16-20 hours per week to support myself through university, the salesman said this would be classed as employed. He was also very pushy about PPI, that if i didnt have PPI and missed a payment for whatever reason, my car would be taken.

However, I was looking at a reclaim website today which states:

"Many of the people who have purchased PPI simply aren’t covered by the policy they have been sold. If you bought Payment protection insurance in the following circumstances:

    • You were a student when you purchased the PPI
    • You were self employed when you purchased the PPI
    • You were in part time employment when you purchased PPI
    • You were unemployed when you purchased the PPI"

Is this correct? Has PPI been mis-sold if i was a student at the time? And also, what classes as part time employment? (it doesnt say in all the paperwork I have requested from them - which is oddly dated 1 september 2003 and i didnt take any policy until june/july 2006)

    Hi and welcome.

Have you still got hold of your policy details for this with the terms and conds?

Some companies differ, but to what I know of 16 hours or less,or maybe 18 hours or less on some polices would not cover.

If you no longer have these I would request for them and check them over, however there are lots of other reasons too for being mis sold check the guidelines of reclaiming here:

  • Hi

Can anyone help with this, put in a ppi claim with Barclays on 28th Jan 2010, they replied asking me to fill out questionnaire, and told me they would get back to me by 25th February 2010. Now I have had another letter from them to say they need to look through various departments for further information regarding my case and they will reply by 25th March, which will be my 8 week deadline. Do I write back to them or wait until 25th March to see if they reply?

Any help with this would be appreciated, thanks

    Hi there

Now that you know where you are with these, you can of course if you want to see what the outcome is by the 25 March, however the 8 weeks start from when they receive your letter of reclaim, some say from the date of the letter, but just as long as the 8 weeks have fully passed you do have the opportunity of taking it to the FOS, but because they have not ignored you and got back with a date, if this was me personally I would see what they come back with next month.
Good luck, hope its the result your waiting for.;)

  • Can anybody tell me what to do next.
I put a claim in for Bank Charges over 2 and half years ago and recently received a letter from Natwest saying that the supreme court has ruled in their favour and they will not be taking my query any further.

Can i take it anywhere, such as the ombudsman or elsewhere to try and get my charges back as its ridiculous to think that its just stopped and i dont understand the details on Martins page, it just dosnt answer my question as to where to go next or where to write ?
  • Anyone answer do you have to pay to get documents releast from the goverment regarding P,P,I, as about 4 months ago my husband took a call from a solisitors who claimed that we definately had money coming to us as our names where one of the one given in the list of wrongful sale for P,P,I and we would definately get four figures only we had to pay to release the documents befor they could be scent to us to sign, we paid £199 pounds needles to say even though we did provide them with all the details they needed and signed all there paper work we did not get anything, just a letter telling us that we where not entilled to anything.
Then yesterday out of the blue I get another call from another solisitors "Legal" they called them selves even said I could look them up on the net giving me a number to use to look them up, which is probably a set up anyway this time they only wanted £99 pounds so I said you tell me if the money is mine and its definitly there why do I have to pay, in the end my hubby told him where to go anyone else had this Julie.B
