To be honest I just don't understand what this argument is about. There is simply no comparison between Tesco and Approved Foods, but we can all admit that even Tesco's customer service has gone downhill in recent years! I have bought from many companies on the internet, both big and small as I teach my son at home and I don't get out during the week. It makes no difference who the company is, I expect to get my goods in a reasonable time, if I don't then I will not use them again.
Everyone here realises that Approved Foods was suddenly under a huge amount of pressure and it's nice that Dan came here to let us know. But what about all the people who ordered and did not know about this site? They heard absolutely nothing for many weeks, sure they could 'phone AF and ask what was going on, but every time Dan had to answer the 'phone for 15 or 20 minutes at a time, that was time when he wasn't able to get on with his job! So people calling the company were actually making the situation worse, an e-mail would be more efficient as you are not obliged to make small talk on e-mails! ;)
I will only be ordering again as my second order came incredibly fast, but if the delays stay the way they are I think a lot of people may well give up, or even worse, Dan might decide that selling on the Internet is more trouble than it's worth! I know that a lot of people simply won't say anything negative because they don't want to 'rock the boat' they know a bargain when they see it and they are willing to wait if it saves them a lot of money. They don't want to lose a good thing so they try and stay positive so Dan will see he has some support and will keep up the service. Not everyone has the same expectations and some people just don't want the hassle, especially if they don't have much spare time, of having to 'chase up' their goods.
I can see both sides of this as I have had one order taking three weeks and another taking three days. If, in a couple of months, orders are still taking weeks then there won't be any excuse for it and that is a different matter, some people may want to re-consider whether it's worth it. Personally I do believe in giving people a second chance, that's why I placed a second order. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion and it is not a requirement of this forum that everyone has to agree. However, it is very easy to be positive if you have placed 5 or 6 orders and they all came in good time, not so easy if you placed two and they both tooks weeks, let's TRY and see other people's point of view. Sorry for going on so long! :o

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed that Approved Foods was featured in Woman's Own magazine (9 Feb issue)? It's on page 51 - "Good Deals" in the bottom right corner.
  • I placed my order on the 20th, had a few items refunded and postage refunded and everything arrived on the 6th.

Very pleased - seems great value and although there was a delay I was aware of that from the website and here

    Will order again
Back to comping! July wins: Frylight August wins: Pixar DVD, Diesel Watch,£75 hamper brioche products September wins bath soak

Thanks to everyone who posts comps and help

What a sensible comment. I got my order from the 21st January yesterday, with some refunded, but it was still welcome, particularly without postage. I've emailled about my remaining Jan order to suggest he combines it with my Feb order, or puts in substitutions to make it up. I hope this difficult time for them is coming to an end.

Order from 23rd January just arrived. Everything there (apart from the couple of bits that were refunded), well packed, no leaks. Everything perfect:j

Actually there was one extra Snickers bar:p:rotfl:
Now need to find cupboard space for 22 jars of Spicy sausage, bean & bacon:eek: & I'll have to eat the chocolate fingers:p
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

22 jars??? Are you going to run a marathon? I was looking at the spicy sausage, beans and bacon but I don't know if I would like it. Is it like baked beans? I don't really like baked beans but I do like plain butter beans. :p

hubby loves it as beans on toast:rotfl:I think it tastes ok - very like a smoky tin of beans (perhaps bbq beans?) Have used the 10 jars I got before Christmas so thought I'd stock up:rotfl:

I thought they were butter beans but they are not- they are gigantica beans I believe- like big baked beans, but with a kind of smokier sauce. Perhaps just go for the 21 jars not 22 if not tried them?:p

tricki1, if it's any help in tracing your problem:

I'm using Firefox 3.0.5 under Windows Vista 64 bit. Addons are Adblock plus, Adblock plus hiding element helper, flashblock, !!!!!!!creator and freecycleedinburgh. I'm also using the back button sometimes after adding to basket. Not noticing the same problem as you.
Have also used Firefox under Ubuntu Linux 8.10 desktop edition with the same plugins. Again, not had the same problem as you.

Disabled addons and it seemed to work in the limited time I had to test, so is a temporary solution if anyone else has problems with Firefox. For IE problems, am not sure,as not used for a long time.

Cannot test the software for conflicts now as did part exchange with friend for better pc and have to reinstall OS for new hardware, so software all new.

P.S Just been on AF site and noticed that the reduced sugar & salt beans, coffee whitener and whitworths stuffing were back in stock in case you want to order while they are still available .

Oh I thought gigantica were just big butter beans lol hmm do they taste the same as butter beans? Or are they like Heinz haricot type ones? I don't think I am ready to order even 21 jars quite yet.. maybe 3 or 4 to start and then a dozen or so if they prove popular! :p
