  • Jam puddings seem to be in stock now-I must not place another order before I have received my combi 3 orders...where will I put it all? And the orange? And now new ready to eat rice treats that look like they will be really nice- not dried, but ready in 2 minutes in a bag...

The worst part is not knowing if an item will actually come back into stock, I was trying not to order for a bit until they caught up with all the old orders, but I have missed the items I would really use. No idea how it can be done better though. Maybe everyone starts panic-buying if they see a real bargain! :p
  • Well, I'm sorry. :p But I had to put another order in and because I couldn't make it up with a lot of stuff that is out of stock, I bought lots of the rice things- hope they are good.
PS I found the rice on a food website- noramlly sells at £2.29

  • I'm really surprised at the speed my last order was dealt with.
I ordered some things on the 4th Feb, still waiting for that, no biggie.
But then I placed another order on the 8th and that arrived today :D
I really wasn't expecting it so soon, the site was still saying there was a 2 week delay.
Cheers to Dan and everyone else at AF:beer:

To be honest I just don't understand what this argument is about. There is simply no comparison between Tesco and Approved Foods, but we can all admit that even Tesco's customer service has gone downhill in recent years! I have bought from many companies on the internet, both big and small as I teach my son at home and I don't get out during the week. It makes no difference who the company is, I expect to get my goods in a reasonable time, if I don't then I will not use them again.
Everyone here realises that Approved Foods was suddenly under a huge amount of pressure and it's nice that Dan came here to let us know. But what about all the people who ordered and did not know about this site? They heard absolutely nothing for many weeks, sure they could 'phone AF and ask what was going on, but every time Dan had to answer the 'phone for 15 or 20 minutes at a time, that was time when he wasn't able to get on with his job! So people calling the company were actually making the situation worse, an e-mail would be more efficient as you are not obliged to make small talk on e-mails! ;)
I will only be ordering again as my second order came incredibly fast, but if the delays stay the way they are I think a lot of people may well give up, or even worse, Dan might decide that selling on the Internet is more trouble than it's worth! I know that a lot of people simply won't say anything negative because they don't want to 'rock the boat' they know a bargain when they see it and they are willing to wait if it saves them a lot of money. They don't want to lose a good thing so they try and stay positive so Dan will see he has some support and will keep up the service. Not everyone has the same expectations and some people just don't want the hassle, especially if they don't have much spare time, of having to 'chase up' their goods.
I can see both sides of this as I have had one order taking three weeks and another taking three days. If, in a couple of months, orders are still taking weeks then there won't be any excuse for it and that is a different matter, some people may want to re-consider whether it's worth it. Personally I do believe in giving people a second chance, that's why I placed a second order. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion and it is not a requirement of this forum that everyone has to agree. However, it is very easy to be positive if you have placed 5 or 6 orders and they all came in good time, not so easy if you placed two and they both tooks weeks, let's TRY and see other people's point of view. Sorry for going on so long! :o

    Well said. :T
I've now placed my 5th order with AF and have purposely avoided phoning them. No doubt many other people have repeat ordered whether or not delivery time of their previous one(s) was 'extended' and I trust that is the type of 'support' that's most welcomed by Dan, if he actually needs any!
I still don't think there's anything wrong with constructive criticism, tempered with a bit of realism bearing in mind all the circumstances.
  • Hi everyone. Just wanted to say hello and say how pleased I am to have found AF. My first order over £40 had a lot of things oos when it was being processed so I had a phone call from a lovely man who talked me through some substitutes so it worked out very well. I think you only get a call if you have a lot of things missing. I finally had just under £5 refunded.
My next order on 2nd Feb had a lot of baked beans which was a lot of the weight. The total order was just over £21. The same day I noticed that the beans were out of stock and since then a total of 7 items are now out of stock and my total is down to £11.95 which is half postage. Thats not so cost effective. I know there is nothing we can do about things being out of stock so I am keeping an eye on the new updated items and will be ready with some substitutes when I get a call or I may phone up myself. I have a feeling that Dan is going to be busy for a long time to come so I for one will fit in with whatever happens. I know he is doing his best and that is all anyone can do.
Many thanks to all at AF. :T

Hopefully it won't be as bad, as they have now linked the stock on the website to what people order. So it is probably ok that the beans showed out of stock, so long as they were in stock when you ordered. Also, remember that if you go from the google email you can email AF easily about the order. I did that and gave some suggested substitutions.

    Part of the Furniture
Someone posted the day before yesterday that they were packing 29th Jan, so I guess end of Jan/start of Feb?

I've got an order in from 1st Feb, I'll post when I hear anything about refunds/dispatch;)
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!
