Just noticed - the Jam sponge pudding and the Lemon & Ginger Cooking Sauce
are now on the website as from "De Identified Supermarket" (although the pictures need updating as still showing where from )

There is probably some legal or marketing reason for this, but if the supermarkets are requiring their products to not show where came from for whatever reason, it makes it impossible for people like myself with dietary requirements to chase up ingredients to ensure is safe or suitable to eat.

I would like to request AF to provide details if that is the case, as while I know it is labour intensive to list ingredients, not doing so for items that the ingredients cannot be found out except by buying is bound to effect sales - I know I wouldn't buy it for myself just in case, and unless I pool an order and the other party orders it, would have to wait to see if someone else provides details, and the item would probably be out of stock by then. (On one of your other items - De-identified Supermarket Salad Cream, your photograph showed sufficient details to satisfy a lot of information requirements so in cases like that a photograph would work very well, although full details would be better to cover all possible needs.)

I have been making a list of details of items for my own ease of ordering, and posting them on the food discussion thread as I might as well let others make use of my work. I hope AF fixes the review system on the website as those outside MSE would have the benefits of customer reviews and info, and less to spam on this forum.

I appreciate that AF especially at this time does not have the manpower or time to provide full details on every item sold, nor is it strictly nessesary as most items can be found on the web, but for De-Identified items, I think it would be a good idea as there is no other way to find out apart from waiting for others to be kind enough to help.

My current situation: I have very recently been diagnosed Diabetic; and my impoverished status, not to mention uncertainty about the future price of food; means that AF is the best option for me at the moment for stockpiling long lasting foodstuffs, but I am having to be very careful about what I order lest I get something too high sugar, and ofc not veggie. (can pass on to others ofc but thats not the point)

Hence the reason I am being so vigerous about nutrition and ingredients. (It doesn't help that I only found out what diet I needed to follow, what to avoid/need etc a week ago) I am hoping AF will heed my request - if a supermarket says you have to list it without saying which supermarket it came from could you please provide an ingredient list and/or nutrition and allergy details to help we poor customers with health problems, allergies, special diets and the just plain old fussy eaters ;)

I have had de-identified stuff and the dietary info is still visible.
If you have special dietary requirements the best thing for you is basic staple ingredients, meat, fish, fruit, veg, rice, pasta. No hidden nasties there!

I think you'll find that Tricki1 meant finding the info on the de-identified items prior to order otherwise it would be a waste of money to order and then find on delivery when she has read the ingredients that she is unable to eat them.
  • Tricki1 have you asked AF directly to do what you are asking? I'm not sure they get to read all of the posts on here.

I agree with you on the basic staples. Want some long lasting goods so can add to staples when required, add some variety etc (and get it while its still cheap)

Precisely, although its a He btw - don't let the long hair fool you - if you saw me the beard would give you a clue :p

You could be right, and can reply more directly anyway. I guess the reason I post in a public forum is for other people to comment on the idea, so Dan can judge how popular an idea is, and if worth his while implementing. No point doing something if nobody really wants it apart from a minority.

The main page message now says there's a backlog of about a week:j Seems they're getting down the back orders:T

Jaytin - the honey is still up on the site so would guess there will be more soon - if it was gone for good then they'd have taken it off completely;)
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!
