  • i havent posted on this new AF thread.. but i have been reading all the posts.

i for one will even with the hic-ups that have happened with my orders will still order and support AF

also i dont care who i offend with my next comments.... on the whole the majority of people who have been posting on mse which have had any issues with AF can understand and appreciate what has happened with Dan's business over the last 2 months...

All i can say you can read all the posts, you can see what is happening, people have had to wait for orders, and yes there are things out of stock.... but i am still willing to place orders, with the understanding that things will not be in my order...( this also happens when i order with the big supermarkets too)

so for all the those people who are moaning and talking about their rights etc... plain and simple... just dont order.. full stop .....end of..... go and pay full prices for things.....as you are the type of people who would find something to moan about..

i am totally sick of people trying to slate an independant business who has had a stroke of luck and their business has grown out of all propotions..

this is a nightmare time for Dan...cashflow. paying wages and new warehouse etc...trying to guage how much new stock to buy etc

just get off his back and work with him, by being patient and listening and reading his notices on the website...he is not a big company.. just a normal bloke with his own business...

oo by the way..... i bought 8 tubs of marvel dried milk reduced down as they were just about to go out of date...lol....before Dan's site i would have done that :D

This is an open forum and it's bound to reflect the wide variety of attitudes and opinions from the wide variety of people for whom the only apparent interest in common is as 'Money Saving' customers of AF.
Sometimes, unlike a 'normal' conversation (face to face or by phone), the manner in which comments are written can come across as quite harsh and simplistic.

I think most people (new customers of AF) probably really do have realistic expectations and are quite forgiving towards the 'mistakes'.

Having said that, perhaps 'someone' (some people?) should have considered the potential 'nightmare' resulting from from all the publicity before courting the media (TV, Radio, Newspapers, etc.), eh?!

As far as I'm concerned, the bottom line is that it's apparent that Dan does care about his customers and is willing to listen to 'complaints'.
If he's able to sucessfully manage his growing business, with all that entails to be able to keep customers satsified, that's all that really matters.
I know that keeping customers is usually more important than gaining new ones and that 'under promising & overdelivering' with 'maximum communication' is the key.

so are you saying martin ( mse) shouldnt have mentioned about alternative shopping places like Dan's ???? to try and save people money and at this time where loads od people are losing their jobs, to try and ease the pressure on their finances?

or do you mean Dan shouldnt have done any interviews with all the media interest?

Any business person would not knock a gift horse in the mouth, lets get real... if i had that type of media coverage and interest, i would go for it too, even though i might make some mistakes etc... as the law of average will work.. you win some you lose some customers...

The type of media coverage that Dan has had would cost a mega fortune, and he has had it all for free...

and in all honesty if it was anyone of us in that position.... we would all make !!!!-ups too due to the influx of orders....

Martin if you want to mention my business on national tv i wouldnt grumble...lol...:D

It depends what you order - if you order 12 cans of soup, 3 bottles of lemonade, etc then you aren't going to get as much per postage as ordering bags of crisps, nuts and other packets. It's all based on weight so the heavier the item the higher the postage.

Well I finally got through and AF were really helpful, substituting items for those out of stock. Thanks heaps guys :T

If it's of any interest - I've noticed some organic baby yogurt and some bottles/teats on the website this morning.

They do have the yummy chilli ketchup in stock but can't find it at the moment :rotfl:
They're happy to look for it if I wait a day - so I'm waiting a day cos it's lovely and at 5 for a quid I'd be mad not too!

  • Anybody here from NI that has received an order? As the P&P is over £10 for us, I would be fuming if lots of stuff wasn't in my order when it arrived. Do they let you know what is out of stock before they send the parcel?

I'm not in NI but am in the northern Scottish Isles so my package has to catch more ferries than yours!

Have you actually been informed that your parcel has been despatched yet - because you usually get a refund before the package is shipped out.

I'll presume that you haven't because you didn't mention it. My problem last week was that I received a refund but the ticket didn't tell me what for. I phoned AF and spoke to Dan who was slightly miffed that 'somebody,' hadn't identified the stuff I was getting the refund for. He, and another chap actually, went through my order again, we agreed some substitutions and in the end I ended up with more stuff than I'd ordered in the first place!

The thing is, you do have to phone immediately you are notified of refunds to get replacements ie before the package is actually sent out.
Mine was delayed for another day but it wasn't an issue.

I don't know what system DHL have to track packages to NI, but up here it seems to stop at Glasgow. This is because DHL then contract other couriers to get it up to me. The problem is this doesn't show on their tracking system, so to all intents and purposes my package has been sat in Glasgow for the last 3 days ...
Now last time I ordered, I discovered it wasn't really sat there and had moved on via Aberdeen, but you still do lose sight of it.
Whether the situation is the same for NI, I don't know - but it is something you need to bear in mind.

Hi, can anyone who has been to the shop tell me if they have more consumable goods in, similar to the company shop at tankersley, please?

Thanks for your response - I haven't actually placed an order, just thinking about it!

I think I will actually go ahead but I'll keep an eye on my e-mails for any out of stock notifications so I can contact them, like you suggest.

    Thanks again!
