Just because Approved Foods is 'one of our own' at MSE doesn't mean we shouldn't apply the same standards we would to any other business that lets down its customers.
Sorry to go back to this- but can I just clarify that AF are not 'one of our own'. It was a thread on here which led to an initial surge of orders; Dan joined as a result I think so he could communicate directly to the people who were ordering so much; we have followed and tried to encourage his progress, and been pleased that he has responded to suggestions. At times there has been a lot of frustration about delays, but, on the whole, we recognise he is doing what he can. But he was not a user of the site who set up in business as some sort of project with 'us'.
• Does anyone know when things are likely to settle down for AP? I want to do another order and I don't mind waiting but I know they have purposely put a lot of stuff out of stock to stem the flow of orders.

It's scary how addictive buying cheap food/snacks has become!

Don't know, wish I did.
I think Dan thought things would calm down if he stopped doing direct publicity, such as radio shows and newspaper interviews, but since then it seems to have taken on a life of it's own. Somebody mentioned last week (I think) that Martin had been on one of the early morning programs and mentioned it - doesn't take many national mentions to get the orders flooding in again!

I'm seriously gutted that I've also just read that the tuna is not going to surface again - I loved that tuna!

Thanks Cruella. The land-line seems to be permanently engaged though - anyone remember the mobile?

Not sure if it is a current number though. :)
• i havent posted on this new AF thread.. but i have been reading all the posts.

i for one will even with the hic-ups that have happened with my orders will still order and support AF

also i dont care who i offend with my next comments.... on the whole the majority of people who have been posting on mse which have had any issues with AF can understand and appreciate what has happened with Dan's business over the last 2 months...

All i can say you can read all the posts, you can see what is happening, people have had to wait for orders, and yes there are things out of stock.... but i am still willing to place orders, with the understanding that things will not be in my order...( this also happens when i order with the big supermarkets too)

so for all the those people who are moaning and talking about their rights etc... plain and simple... just dont order.. full stop .....end of..... go and pay full prices for things.....as you are the type of people who would find something to moan about..

i am totally sick of people trying to slate an independant business who has had a stroke of luck and their business has grown out of all propotions..

this is a nightmare time for Dan...cashflow. paying wages and new warehouse etc...trying to guage how much new stock to buy etc

just get off his back and work with him, by being patient and listening and reading his notices on the website...he is not a big company.. just a normal bloke with his own business...

oo by the way..... i bought 8 tubs of marvel dried milk reduced down as they were just about to go out of date...lol....before Dan's site i would have done that :D

Thanks Mistymaid, would it be an idea to all PM Martin and ask him not to mention it again on national tv?! :D

I'm disappointed that you (a Board Guide for the ShopButDontDrop board) posted that on this forum (which is at a 'consumer interest' site), without first checking to establish the facts about consumer and contract law.

A contract has not been 'completed' unless and until both parties have fulfilled their obligations.

Just one piece of relevant legislation...
Statutory Instrument 2000 No. 2334The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
7. - (1) Subject to paragraph (4), in good time prior to the conclusion of the contract the supplier shall -

(b) inform the consumer if he proposes, in the event of the goods or services ordered by the consumer being unavailable, to provide substitute goods or services (as the case may be) of equivalent quality and price; and

(c) inform the consumer that the cost of returning any such substitute goods to the supplier in the event of cancellation by the consumer would be met by the supplier.

thanks
i am not a specialist in consumer law i am a volunteer board guide.
I hope people get their issues resolved.
I was comparing it to supermarkets online when how often do you get out of stock or substitutes!!!???
