I was a senior import clerk for a shipping company, pre children I was a supervisor of an Import department for a shipping line.
Now I am a full time carer to two disabled children plus one very annoying (this morning) teenager although I have not given up hope of returning to work.....must be said, think the employment sector have given up on me!
So I spend my time looking after the children, doing umpteem school runs, appointments with doctors and schools, being punched, kicked and strangled with a seat belt on occasions when middle one is in an aspergic rage (it has not been a good start to the year!) whilst also doing an IT course, completed a counselling course and about to embark (this week) on a Batchelor of Law degree.
Oh and I also run a website managing a team of approx 50 people.....power, I love the power! :rotfl:
Edit - Forgot to add, I also volunteer at a local special needs playgroup a couple of days a week..partly to give something back and partly for purely selfish reasons of giving me the required experience for a job in the sector which suits the care needs of my children. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
