    Morning All

Not as much snow here as I thought there would be so looks like I'll be going to work. DH was complaining of a sore throat about 4am and said he could hardly talk so don't know whether he's planning on going to work - I know he said last night if the snow was bad he was going to take a day's hol and not go in rather than driving through the snow - he's only supposed to be in the yard so won't be missing much.

LG - did you go home or have you slept at the airport?

Carlsberg - lovely photos - congratulations.

G&B - hope LO's feeling easier soon and Wed's appt goes well

Kassey - hugs to you and your friend

Going to wash the dishes now before everyone else gets up.

  • Hi

Please include me again. Didnt have a very good week last week so didnt post. Between the girls this week they are getting back teeth stopped sleeping and had cold. Oh and I felt like death. ( silly me I thought night feeds stopped and night sleeping started - oh how I have learnt)

But I did get some jobs done. Heres to a new week and new list. ( already a day behind)
  • Morning All :hello:

I'm SO with you on this one Valli. How bloomin rage-making for you. I'm a harsh Mummy when it comes to getting/replacing stuff for the children too.

I was in the chemist waiting for a prescription with my little 2. DD2 spotted a hand held mirror for little girls. It had a lipstick in the handle, and eyeshadows and lip gloss too. It was reduced to the grand sum of £1.75. DD2 REALLY WANTED it!! She had big fat tears wobbling precariously on her lashes! I said she maybe she could have it for her birthday. But, I refused to buy it then and there. She was very sad, and the people in the shop could not believe I was SO mean and wouldn't buy it for her, especially when she was sad. I told them... it doesn't matter about how much or how little it costs. I would not be helping her, if I bought everything she saw that she likes, just because she wanted it. :p

I did, however, go back the next day and buy it for her birthday, and it's currently tucked away in a cupboard waiting till March ;)

Right then. I have 3 girls off today. DD1 is a very grown-up preteen, who will want to do 'cool' things with her friends.... she will, however, be making snowmen in the park, and remembering that it's fun to play... and that life is not all about mascara! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Best go and feed DD3 and get her meds... before she breaks the house! :rotfl: :rotfl:

    See you all later

    Morning,
Just caught up with the thread - lots of chat about teachers and school closures last night I see;)

Toots - Thanks for looking for me. L appears to be like golsd dust second hand for some reason. I'll bid on the ebay one and let you know.

FU&S - Ouch. Hope your not to sore and stiff
soappie - Excellent kitchen floor. Well done you:T

Valli - I think I must be one very meany mummy. DS (14) doesn't get any pocket money from me now. He does a paper round that earns him £18 a week. Before that if he wanted money he had to earn it.

I made a list of chores that were worth anything from 10p up to 50p. It was up to him how much he did or did not do. Then I would tot it all up and pay him on a Friday night or Saturday morning. The most he could earn in one week was £7.50.

Since he's been 'earning' and combined with birthday and xmas money, he has bought himself an Xbox, lord knows how many games for it, controllers, a Wii (second hand off his dad for £50), dvd's (he loves films), trainers, clothes, the list goes on.

He is now learning the value of money and if he wants something then he has to save for it. Plus I no longer get unreasonable requests for hugley expensive items that he 'must have cos everyone else has got them'. And, I don't get 'had' every weekend for money for him to go and play badminton or tennis or laserquest or the cinema etc. He wants to go, he pays.

Right mini rant and lecture over:o I better go and see if my two have school today and find a list to start attacking.
  • Morning everyone

Lit a candle yesterday for MSD and Baby Chloe and her M&D
Schools both closed again this morning :T (sorry pigpen).

I didn't get as much done as I expected yesterday, but I did manage my main challenges which were to clear landing and cupboard under the stairs. I want one like yours, kaz as mine is a rather pathetic affair but now very sparkly.

Today: loads of washing, muck out the fridge and clean the oven

PF - it's definitely worth putting up door curtains. And thermal lining is even better! I've made both mine slightly too long, so they fold over at the bottom as extra draught excluder. They've got tie-backs to the side for when they're open, so I can loop them up off the floor for cleaning. The only problem I have with mine is that they are too narrow, so I'm going to add borders to the front one (contrasting fabric, as current width was determined by how much was left over from living room curtains) and replace the back one as I need to sort out new curtains for the kitchen this year anyway.

I keep meaning to do something about a door curtain, but I have a very narrow hall. Only the same width as the door and frame - so nowhere for the curtain to go when the door is open IYSWIM.

G&B Hugs for you and LO

No snow here, but the usual 'high level' roads are blocked.

    Right off for a shower.

I can't get into work again today, there's no report on trains from my station and further investigation found that the station i change at is closed. Can't say i'm too sad about it! DH left early, waited for a bus for 20 minutes, finally got one but it went a different route to usual (so they're not running as normally as TFL would have us believe!).

I do have to work from home again, but as ever I save 3 hours of commuting and have plans for other things to do! Off to look at the list and get another cuppa (sitting in bed with the laptop!) ;)
