It's snowing again... and I need to go outside to read the gas meter!

From an energy saving perspective, this is a good opportunity to see (without the use of expensive thermal imaging technology) where the problem areas in your house are.

Go outside and have a look up at the roof. If the snow has settled, your loft insulation is fine. If it has melted... buy and fit more at the next available opportunity.

You may also be able to tell where the walls and windows are letting heat escape by looking at where snow has settled and melted. And go round the house inside looking for cold spots and working out what you can do about them (I need to build a porch, as the front door is a major cold spot, but I can't see it happening soon... I already have a draught excluder and a curtain - which I plan to widen - so am thinking about taping it up and using the back door for the rest of the winter!)

Hi everyone! What about this weather! Mad eh? We had a good weekend at my parent's although last night was a bit stressful as it took us 2 hours to get back (noramlly 45 mins) because of the snow!
I have an unexpected day off as my boss has told everyone not to go to work today! What a nice boss! Don't think I could have got there anyway! We went out for a rece and the roads are awful! There is 10 inches at my PIL's place, and there are loads of abandoned cars halfway up hills! We saw people sledging, skiing, playing, making snowmen...it's fab out there.
Anyway, since we spent the morning out in the snow I haven't done any flying. Had not intended to anyway as was supposed to be working, but would like to do some as it means won't have so much to do tomorrow. Glad it's the living room as it's the worst room! Just to do level one: 'clear the surfaces' will probably take all afternoon! Hubby uses the armchairs as a wardrobe!
Cazzie - so sorry to hear about your friend. They will appreciate anything you can do, a card, a phone call and your continued love and support over the next few months. The worst thing is when people don't know what to do and end up not doing anything. Just show them you care

  • Not doing any flying until I've paid some bills. Although I have made mashed potato already for tea tonight and prepared sausage casserole.

Off to make some phonecalls then I can get a bit of tidying up done.

(((Cazzie))) I'll light a candle for your friend and her OH.

I'm snowed in so I should be able to get lots of flying done. All my ironing is up to date. I might get some studying done as well lol ;)

:D:D:D THE GROUTING IS FINISHED :D:D:D

I now just have to put everything back in there once the floor's had another wash.

I continue to have builder's hands - rough as sandpaper and all manner of evil stuff up my fingernails but they should recover in the next few days. Have just had a large bowl of rice crispies for lunch (quick and readily to hand!). I am now going to get out of these builders clothes into something more respectable, throw them into the wash and then go foraging for food. It's snowing again!

    Update pictures:
