Does anyone else have the problem of excess water - I have a Rowenta Steam Generator and I use the correct mesh ironing board, but if I've been ironing for a while (about 30 mins) water drips off my ironing board and onto my floors (which are laminated) so I have to put a towel down

I found that too until I realised didnt need to have steam on full. does your iron an adjustment for the steam? I found I got the same results on the lower setting.

Hey Vlucky I have the polti and the polti iron add on too - I take the iron off and put it at the kitchen sink on the stainless steel to cool down and the steamer I leave in the spare room floor - I am scared the cats get burnt with the iron but its magic - I use the tumble drier water in it all the time too.
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

I've been using a Polti for ages now, and it's brilliant. The only problem I have is that my ironing board gets very wet after about an hour (I don't iron in small amounts!), and I was thinking of getting a Polti ironing board, but it'd cost me about twice what the iron cost. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations, as my old ironing board is now rusty cos of the massive amount of steam generated, and I guess it'll need replacing in the very near future.

    Hi Hollydays

    Wait, wait!

There is one problem I can see with the Philips GC6103.... it has the old style tank with a valve. This probably means you have to let the iron cool down before you can refill. The other steam generators (including the Philips GC8210) has a tank that you remove to fill, and it can be done at anytime.

I have an ancient morphy richards steam generator, and the one thing I hate about it is gaving to wait for it to cool to refill.

I had a look in Tesco at the steam gererator irons, the one I liked the best was a Tefal, and the most expensive, although Tesco on line have it £15 cheaper including delivery the water tank was removable for filling. Itt looked sturdier than the other two they had in stock and also has the glide easy sole plate...............

I have just been looking at this one and thought of the same question... Can anyone help?

i changed my mind about this because you have to buy anti scale cartridges for it, got the phillips Gc8210 from argos in the end £100 reduced from £150, brill Iron! it has 100g steam instead of 90 and has some very good features, also comes with the welcome bonus of a 2 year warranty.
  • Just about sums my question up really. I hate hate hate ironing with a passion and anything I could find to make the whole sorry experience shorter and more pleasant would be good.

My dear husband keeps suggesting he 'treat' me to a new ironing board cover for my birthday. I usually respond along the lines that would be nice but only if I could have a pair of matching pair of testicle shaped earrings too, if you catch my drift.

    Apologies to anyone eating.
