i got one this year- i used the which guide to choose. its definitely easier work than my last conventional iron and its powerful.
ironing is still sh*t tho0 -
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes - I love mine. You don't have to pay lots for one either. I tried several at various friends houses and decided in the end to go for a Morphy Richards Jet Stream, which I managed to get for £40 in one of those Cash Generator shops, but I think they are around £70 in Argos. I hate ironing but this helps no end. I fold T-shirts as if I am going to put them away without ironing and then just run the SG iron over the folded top side and they are perfectly crease free. Same with bedding. I would say, if you can afford one get one.Jane
ENDIS. Employed, no disposable income or savings!0 -
mine has just died, and having to go back to a "normal" iron is breaking my heart. So if you see any good deals out there....x x x0

OMG YES YES YES - they are brilliant. Even my 15yr old son says its better!
I got a Russell Hobbs from Robert Dyas for £49.99 + p&p but I think they've not put it up to £69.99 but it would still be worth it.
You can iron twice as much stuff in half the time IMO so go for itMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
I love mine too. I got mine in Lidl for £40, and it works really well.
I used to iron both sides, but now I don't, because the steam is enouigh to go right through. Halves the time spent ironing!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -

Thank you so much for posting this scrimpingbadger - I read a post yesterday re ironing (was it yours??) - I detest it - & someone mentioned 'steam generator iron thingies' - so I've just come on line to ask the very same question you've already posted  so I now have my answer (earlier than expected & am off to buy one - I'll report back later)

I use one at work sometimes and it's brilliant. When mine at home finally dies, I'll be getting one without a doubt!0

Thanks everyone - I'm now about to start researching them - anything that cuts ironing time in half HAS to be good. Then the other half of the time I could be....eating chocolate or reading an improving book!!0
