    Hi ellie,

There's an earlier thread with lots of recommedations that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

These threads from other boards may help too:

Would someone with a which account be kind enough to tell me what Steam Generator Irons they class as being the best and most reliable. I've searched the internet high and low and as usual it's full of conflicting and contradictory information, probably posted by the brands themselves. I really want to make my mind up once and for all before Christmas and I believe 'which' is the best way to find a genuine review. I would get a 'which' account myself but I haven't got a credit card. thanks.
  • Hi, I have some vouchers for £20 off a phillips GC7220 steam generator at tesco, if you want me to post one for you then just shout :)

I've got them because of BzzAgent, I've been trying the steam generator mentioned above and am really impressed with it. It heats up really quickly and makes ironing much speedier.

Penelope Penguin, I've been through all those threads and I came out more confussed than i went in. there were only a few posts which seemed to recommend a model, all the others seem to be either discussions about whether steam generators were better than normal irons or what offer was on at the current time.

The Philips GC7230 is a surprise as I've only been bombarded with offers for the GC7220 at the moment. According to Argos the GC7230 has 4 bar pressure and the GC7220 has 3.5. The GC7230 has a dry tank alert, the GC7220 doesn't. The GC7230 also has Variable steam, a Steam ready indicator and an Overheat safety stop, which the GC7220 doesn't have. Little wonder the offer is on the GC7220 model

    Thankyou very much bear Family.

are there any more in that list Bear Family, any Rowenta's, Morphy Richards?
  • Hang on, I'll go back on. I think they only do top 10. Back in a sec.
