can anyone else post, or link to what 'Which' says about Steam Generator Irons?
Are Philips really top of the pops?0 -
I've just found out, (through other websites) that the Philips GC7230, although it's a good unit, doesn't have any anti-scale.
can someone help us out here?0 -
went on another website and it does have anti-scale.:mad:0

I would just add that, as far as I know, Philips is the only brand that has a "steam lock" which locks the steam on whilst you are ironing, the other brands you have to hold the steam button down all the time.
I have an older Philips steam generator iron which I find great and if it gives up the ghost I would certainly only go for another one with the steam lock. My d-i-l had a different make (cheapy from Aldi or Lidl I think) and when she tried mine with the steam lock she gave her other one away and bought a Philips.0 -
Sorry can't help with recommendation, but I had a steam generator some time ago. I found it quite hard with the height of it on the ironing board and lowering the board so I could reach easily put the board too low for my back problem.
After many years of different irons I now have this steam press. I would say it is the best thing since sliced bread, but I don't like sliced bread!
Great steam, but I don't need to use the steam a lot, the pressure on its own is usually enough. Takes up less space than an ironing board, and I can sit down to it. I can't wait to try it on my cotton curtains.

I put my steam generator on the floor under the ironing board, the steam hose is long enough for the iron to be placed on the iron rest on the board. Another solution would be to put the steam generator on a little table if the steam hose isn't long enough.0

Hi
Just looked through all the old threads referring to steam generator irons but couldn't see anyone refer to Tefal GV9360. I am thinking of buying it, but am just looking for others opinions or views on this as it is a lot of money to spend, but think it will pay for itself in the long term as I do a lot of ironing.
Thanks0 -
Just wanted to bump this up again as no one appears to have any opinion on the Tefal GV9360. I was looking on the net and reading different reviews etc and comparing prices. There is a website called choicebrands that deal in graded/seconds etc that is selling this for £159.99, almost a £100 than the next nearest store how as this is a graded item I am unsure as to how good it will be. So has anyone used this iron and is it good? Has anyone used choicebrands and how was it etc.
Thanks0 -
Not heard of the company you mentioned, but i do have a tefal steam generator it's a pro express model and love it (had it for about 18 months maybe 2 years). The model you mention is one several above the model i have, i cannot imagine it being rubbish by any standard. If anything it should far exceed the model i have! LOL
Sounds like a good deal, i think i paid about £120 ish for mine in the sale at Argos original price was £150 ish.
I would go for it.My beloved dog Molly27/05/1997-01/04/2008RIP my wonderful stepdad - miss you loads:Axxxxxxxxx:Aour new editionsSenna :male: and Dali :female: both JRT0 -
Help!Before my head explodes!
My Russell Hobbs steam generator pump died yesterday.Desperately have to buy another one.I won't go back to a normal iron now,so looking at irons now i can't decide what one to get.
They now have Pressurized and non pressurized.I know what that means but is it worth the extra cash?I have found 4 so far that look good for different reasons. One is £49.99 (bargain) but is not pressurized and i will have to buy replacement filters and is obviously very basic. Then i have 2 mid ranges priced £120.00 (tefal gv7070) and £150 (philips gc8261) or the creme de la creme tefal's GV9360.Looks like it does everything, even does the dishes!! But can i justify spending £220 on it?
Please help,before i drive myself insane!
Just seen another that seems ok,Bosch TDS2510GB £100 in argos????0
