been told my tribunal will be in June. that will be 10 months since claiming. I guess good way of looking at it is WHEN we win it will pay for a long needed holiday to get over all stress.

    Sorry to hijack this thread.

In the process of filling in the rather daunting renewal DLA form.Having problems completing the section how long it takes to walk 40 metres. What would be classed as reasonable/acceptable time for someone who walks slow with a severe gait, heavy limp and with the aid of an elbow crutcht to do this this?I have timed it at 1min 50secs,in pain,is that quick?

I have been in receipt higheer of mobility component since 1990 due to a serious ankle/foot/leg injury

If it takes 1min 50 secs that what you should write. Asking whats reasonable sounds a lot like trying to mislead the DM. Remember you sign to say that what you have written is the truth and if you are found to have misrepresented yourself, you can be prosecuted for fraud.
As a side note the mobility claim pack asks how far you can walk and how long does it take. It then asks you to estimate your walking speed and gives you 3 choices one of which is (IIRC)less than 40m per min. It doesnt ask how long it takes to walk 40m.

    Oops,apologies,misread the the question

Believe you me I am in no way trying to mislead the DM(could have worded my question better)and I`m aware that I have to sign what I have written is the truth. As I have stated,I have been on DLA since 1990 and have no recollection of questions like this.

these forms are a pain, i had to get boyfriend to time me ..like how do you know how fast / slow you walk .. he measured out line to walk down in road .. late at night lucky no cars.and got stop watch . ...go go now ..why you not going ?.. waiting for legs to work...shall i start timer again ?...NO ...i nearly fell over like bird flapping wings (arms) . well did it couple times and put the average time down..bf had good time watching me hobble and flap like bird for balance.. keen to put me in his aviary !!

  • HI i had the middle rate of care allowence for 2 years i had to renew in january,i have prolapsed disk and rampant facet joint osteoritis and it has gotten worse over the last year, but i did not get the care allowence this time, yet they said in the letter that i needed help the same as before (but because i can sit or stand to cook a meal for 1) i would not receive care allowence i have appealed and got the 11 week letter. i think the throw darts to see if you can get a benefit

It doesn't matter what you have, or how bad it is. It's the way it affects you, and the amount of help you need from "another" to cope/live with this.

In other words you need to provide the reasoning for assistance in order for your claim to be accepted.

Please don't think this as a negative reply, it's not intended to be so, BUT, if the form guides you down an alley and only gives a very short list of optional answers, you really have to think about the answers they are expecting. In other words it's not what you have, it's what effect it has on you;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
