1p Dog Racing deal

So we're just supposed to ignore the moral aspect of the choices we make?
There is loads of evidence that behind the only-slightly-sleazy surface of the dog racing industry there lies a tradition of vile cruelty and crime. It is perfectly reasonable for us to point this out so people can make an informed decision.
As I said before this is not an animal rights forum or a take the moral high ground forum. It is a moneysaving GRABBIT forum which is exactly what the OP posted.
If someone wants to go to the dogs for 1p why not let them go and enjoy with out trying to make them feel guilty.0 -
People are always posting opinions on this board.
I've lost count of the number of times I've seen somebody post a 'unique' looking item such as a multi-coloured chandelier or an elephant table and the only responses they get are about how ugly it is.
Or people post a grabbit to an electrical item and then get bombarded with opinions about what rubbish quality that manufacturer is.
Why don't you start telling them that this isn't a forum for discussions on good taste either then?0 -

"This item is poor quality"
"This skin cream contains no SPF".
People should be allowed to add comments that they think are important.
If YOU don't want to read the thread, then why don't you simply not read it?
That would be very easy and you wouldn't be stopping people who want to read it, from reading it, so why not make your informed choice and go away rather than trying to impose your personal preferences on others.
Personally if there is important information/opinions about a deal, then I would like to hear them even though I recognise some of it is subjective.
Why not give people the choice?
and if YOU want to leave then LEAVE.0 -
Thank you!! The offer is a great one - thanks OP!!
However, I was not aware of the way that the dogs are treat and I am glad that this was pointed out to me!!
Its disgusting and I will not be participating in something that allows people to treat animals in this way!!ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -
Good points.
You also wont find any greyhounds made into burgers or shoes........
I'm not so sure....have you ever been to the Royal Balti in Bradford? :rotfl:
To everyone else: this is a fantastic offer - 1p for something to eat and a night's entertainment. There may or may not be ethical issues relating to greyhound racing, but as others have pointed out, this is a Grabbit forum. The definition of this is for massive savings with a time limit, and this certainly fits the bill.
Previously, the Grabbit forum has had lots of other offers. Offers on books which might not have been produced with recycled paper, offers on meat which, of course, was once part of a living animal, offers sent by mail in big diesel guzzling lorries, and misprices resulting in companies in many cases honouring huge orders at a massive loss. All of these have of course got ethical consequences.
These are all pertinent and important issues for a lot of people, but quite simply Grabbit is not the place to discuss them. There is a Green & Ethical Moneysaving board on this very site. I am sure that very few people would object to anyone starting a "Morality of Greyhound Racing" thread on this particular board, and personally I wouldn't even have an objection to a (one) link in a reply to the OP to that discussion, in case anyone thinking of taking up the offer has a moral dilemma about it, but discussion on the GRABBIT itself should be limited to pitfalls of the product that might make someone who was going to get it change their mind, such as excessive restrictions that might make the product appear to be not as it seems.
No doubt there will be folk who argue with this viewpoint, but the reason that there is startification between boards is in an attempt to reinforce the mantra, there is a time and a place for everything.#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET

This was my situation when I first heard of this offer the last time they did it but after some other members (possibly the same ones) pointed out how cruel it is my opinion of it changed too. So for this I'm glad people have taken the time to give me some facts.0 -

Because some of us are naive!/ignorant!! The posts are only advising us of the downsides, you are then free to make your choice!
Having heard the way the animals are treat I have made mine!! The original offer sounded great but I am glad I am now wiser (thanks to the posts) and will not help promote neglect!!ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -

:rotfl:There were only 9 of them at the time so it didn't take much effort
I have been perfectly upfront about the fact that I own ex-racers and I volunteer for several greyhound rescues.. it just makes me wary when somebody talks about 'money-saving' but the only subject they post about is promoting dog racing.0
