Wish some people would just keep their unneccessary opinions/comments to themselves and everyone would be happier...
    What's an unnecessary opinion?

I'm grateful for the info on the deal AND the background info.
I won't be going because we sponsor a rescue greyhound, but I'm grateful for the posts, so I think people should be left to make their own informed decisions.

if you want people to make informed choices, why don't you include a link to the BGRB's statement on greyhound welfare? And as for 'a tradition of crime' what about the animal rights criminals see:
Somebody else posted the link to the Times story about the industrial scale killing of redundant greyhounds. I'm not interested in reading the industry's justification of itself. And I don't see what the activities of terrorists has to do with wanting to point out the vicious nature of the racing dogs industry.
  • This is ridiculous. I love going down the dogs so i'm grateful for someone sharing this offer. At the end of the day, this board is just for "deals" - if i want to THEN research into the rights/wrongs of the topic ill do it on a more suitable site. To be honest, you could probably get someone giving the "truth" about every single item on here.

If the GBGB (or any other greyhound regulatory body) was doing such a fantastic job this man wouldn't be slaughtering up to 10,000 greyhounds in his back garden and burying them in his allotment. I don't remember any of the Greyhound regulatory bodies taking any action against the owners and trainers routinely taking their dogs there to be shot.

These issues have been known about for a LONG time and yet it's still going on.

Nor do they help the greyhound rescues I volunteer for who are currently having to close their doors to any more dogs because they're so full they literally cannot take any more.

Due to the credit crunch people are not rehoming dogs because they simply cannot afford to (rehoming figures are plummeting) but still this industry is churning out dogs with nowhere for them to go.

I'm not a terrorist :rotfl:but I do live with an ex-racer who was so badly beaten by her last trainer that years on, she can't have a man come near her without cowering and wetting herself in terror. I don't see the industry doing much about trainers like that either.

Seems you don't want to make an informed choice then. I have read the times articles and that is what the BRGB is addressing. My point is that you said dog racing was sleazy and had a tradition of creulty and crime. Criminals exist is all forms of life including animal rights and I accept also in greyhound racing. They also exists in the church, for example.

I'm curious on why dogs are so superior to cows. What do you think happens to milking cows when they stop producing enough milk? Are the cows re-housed or are they put down!?

The sleazy greyhound racing industry website ignores the vile and cruel traditions and practices of hanging and beating in the heads of dogs that don't make their venal owners money any more.

People are free to point out their views about the commercial beef industry.

I'm sure they aren't kept as pets, but because of their size I don't think you will find them roaming lose on the streets or left to drown in a canal (where they can't get out) or shot and left by the side of the road (simply because of their size).
  • Lol.

Is it any of your business what choices people make? I'm sure no-one on here asked you to point things out to them.
Everyones more than capable of making their own decisions without your "help"....

And Its nothing to do with whether your a dog lover or not, i've got 4 dogs myself. Two of those are rescue dogs.

    I'm reporting this post.

Who the hell do you think you are?

Please do. I stand by my comment and would ask you who indeed you think you are to post your original post but I already have a pretty good idea.
