mine find it much easier to make a trip to Italy than to travel less than 100 miles to us, so i do have the pleasure of knowing they won't ever just turn up. They are very good at sweeping statements though. Was told this weekend that the flat won't be big enough when we have a child so we should get a bigger place that has gas. It's funny but they think it's alien that some places don't have gas. It's true the flat is small but it's what we can afford at the moment and there's no buyers at the moment even if we could afford to move up, they just seem to think you can click your fingers and hey presto! Plus baby?????? we've not even been married a year!0

I hate it when the in laws think they know what is best for us. It doesn't matter if you live in a shoebox as long as you are happy. Also it is none of there business where you live. You should also enjoy being married first before you have a baby. You stick to your guns.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.

Got paid today and OH also got some JSA money. He has given me some money for food, electricity and something to put in the wedding pot.
I need to work out a budget for the month and also do a meal plan for next week. OH graduation is this month so I need to put some money aside for that. I am glad tomorrow is friday as it has been a very busy week a work.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.

I see that wedding fund has increased well done. What's the plan to get the loans paid off before the wedding?
I would also say it's good to be friday but I'm working all weekend this weekend so would rather it was sunday now lol0 -

The creation loan will be paid off in January 2010, the black horse loan in September 2010 and the car loan in November 2010. So that only leaves the mortgage and the student loan. I will work on overpaying the mortgage after we get married.
I don't want to rub it in too much but its Friday and I am on a half day at work. Yipee.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.

Hello DC
What a lovely thread, I have read bits and pieces and will jump back and read the rest later, but you seem to be doing really well at paying things off, well done you.
I'm in a very similar boat and can really sympathise, I am also 27, moving in with OH next month and getting married next year and trying to pay off my loan. It's not easy trying to do all of these things at once is it, so you have my ear to bend if needs be. Good luck and I shall be following with interest.

I have not had any big spending spree since January. Anything that I put on the credit card is paid off the following month. Since having a diary I budget better and if I can't afford it I don't have it.
Congratulations on the impending wedding. Have you set a date yet? We are getting married next December and I am very excited and I sometimes try to do too many things at once. However I am sure next year will soon fly by.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.

It's so hard not buying things when you are so used to getting things when you feel like it, isn't it, I crave a spending spree but just can't justify it anymore!!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get some birthday money in September, that is the only money I will allow myself to spend on stuff I want rather than need!!

Yes have set a date of 15 Mar 10, we're getting married in a register office (just us two) and then off abroad for a honeymoon/renewal of vows on the beach, not very MS I know, but it was much much cheaper in the long run than inviting the whole family, both our parents are divorced and remarried, so we both have these huge extended families so we decided on something more quiet and personnel!
But consequently I have to try and save up £5000 by January whilst trying to fix my 11 year old car every time it breaks and pay off my loan aaaaaahhhhhh!!!
Sorry if I've taken over your thread by typing this huuuuge message.
And you're right december 2010 will be here before you know it, and a winter wedding will be wonderful

I really need a new wardrobe of clothes and I have been saving up for months. I finally have enough money to go shopping tomorrow. I bet you I will not find anything I like. That always happens to me lol.
Your wedding sounds good. The OH and I wanted to get married abroad but my dad is a traditionalist and we have to get married in a church. However our honeymoon is not very MS at all. We are planning a 5/6 week trip to New Zealand and Australia over xmas and new year. We are really making it into a once in a lifetime holiday.
I was phoning around a few reception venues this week and because our wedding is near xmas one place said we need 250 guests. We are only having 50 which is costing enough.
