DC's journey to become debt free and saving for wedding

We changed our minds over the date a few times but in the end we decided on 11 December 2010. Depending on whether the OH can find a job we might end up taking a small loan to pay for it but I am hoping to have the majority of the money saved by then.
The £2,200 I quoted earlier was for 50 guests, room hire, 4 course dinner, drinks and evening buffet and various other little things like first night accomodation for bride and groom and tea/coffee for guests on arrival etc. The only thing we need to get would be the DJ and I have emailed for a quote tonight so hope to here something tomorrow.
The price you said of £2,600 doesn't sound to expensive. You will have to look into it.

Evening everyone
I still have £12.50 spends money a NSD for me. OH got another job rejection letter today but he applied to another 4 jobs so I am hoping he will find something soon.
I was doing a little summer clean in the house and I have a few things I can ebay so I will have to start doing that tomorrow. I listed 1 of OH's games on amazon tonight so I hope that will sell. So I hope to have a few more pennies to go towards the wedding fund.
Nothing else to report.

That price is a bargain DC. I quite like the idea of a winter wedding, but my birthday is also in December and then I probably wouldn;t ever get an anniversary present lol. It's bad enough getting a birthday present from OH that's not wrapped in xmas paper lol.
Good luck with the selling and I hope your OH gets lucky on the job front soon.0 -
My OH's birthday is 3 days after christmas and I have to remember to wrap his present in birthday paper and not xmas paper.
I am going to have to contact the venue again as they were suppose to get back to me on Monday. I have been looking at other venues and they are either already booked or too expensive. So I will chase these guys in the morning as I think it is a very good package.
I haven't had a chance to ebay tonight as I have been enjoying the evening sun and I did a bit of work in the garden. I am sure they will be plenty of wet nights to ebay.
Another NSD for me again so I still have £12.50 spends left.

Evening everyone
I still have not spent any of my £12.50 weekly spends. Any money left on a Friday is being transferred to savings account.
We are going to see a wedding venue next Saturday and if we like it I will have to pay £500. I also seen and offer today for photographer and videographer for £850 and this includes an album. This sounds very good so I will have to look into this. The wedding disco people have not got back to me yet so I am still waiting for the quote.
I am going to do a monthly shop online tonight so I hope to stick to the £100 budget. This leaves £20 for milk and fresh fruit and veg for the month.

We will have to wait another week before we can see the venue as they have 3 weddings this weekend. However we provisionally booked it today so if we like it next Saturday all we have to do it pay the deposit and it is ours.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.

Evening everyone
I had a strange day today, I got a puncture at the weekend and got it fixed today costing £14 so that's the £12.50 weekly spends budget out the window. I also had to buy buns for the office as it was my birthday a few weeks ago and today was the first day I was in so that was another £10. However I got home to find the car insurance renewal letter in and was for £285. Last year it was £525 and I have this amount saved up so I have saved £240 :j. So as a treat I bought OH a couple of games for £33. The rest of the money we are going to use to pay for wedding deposits.
I got a quote for the wedding disco costing £500 and he plays for as long as we want him. So we are going to go for this. The reception and disco are coming in under £3000.

blimey that's one heck of a cost for a disco, we got a ceidlh band and a disco for about the same amount of money and they were playing for the whole evening. I miss planning our wedding, i really enjoyed looking for things and how to get what we wanted for what we were prepared to pay.
well done for the savings on the car insurance.0 -
That is quite an expensive price for a dj but then if you like him and he will give you what you want then go for it.
Good news about the car savings.0
