  • Did you get any kind of extended warranty with the laptop?

Only reason I ask is that when our old PC went to the scrapheap in the sky it was only two weeks shy of being a year old and the standard warranty with PC World was only a year

You might find it worth a shot to take it back to the shop - I would do this anyway as it's so new (Comparatively) and you could argue it wasn't fit for purpose.

    Good luck with it anyway!
    HI F_F

I did not buy any extended warrany this time. I bought it for my last laptop and when the keyboard on it broke I had so much hassle getting PC World to sort it I didn't bother with the warranty this time.

Did PC World do anything for you when you PC was only two weeks from being a year old?

    They were useless!!

We went in, they said it was one thing and told us to take the PC home and phone the (very expensive) tech people number, we booked someone to come and see us at home to fix it. They didn't turn up and it ended up that they had gone to the store and we had to lug the PC in to the store again while they rebooked someone to look at it.

We went in (a total of two weeks later) were told it was fixed, took it home and it was still b*ggered. We took it back again and t'other half had a [strike]hissy fit[/strike] loud and civil discussion with the store manager. In the end we got it replaced, but it was a HUGE hassle and when this PC goes to the Great Scrapheap in the Sky we shall not be darkening the doorstep of PC World.

I would still go in and try and get something from them though - just be loud about it :D
  • They were useless!!

I have been there before with PC World and I would second that they are useless. Your story sounds very similiar to mine. I took the laptop in and they said is was fixed brought it home and it was still the same. Then under the extended warranty if you ring them up they are supposed to do a collect and repair service and they would not come and pick the laptop off me. So I very angrily took is back to the shop and told them to sort it. In the end the keyboard had to be replaced. That took months to sort. So I do not really want to go near the shop. The laptop is working at the minute so I think I am going to keep using it until the hardware problem gets worse and then I might consider claiming off the insurance.

  • Happy Easter everyone.

I am just having a lazy morning but I do need to get some work finished off over the easter holidays as the April deadlines are looming.

I have managed somehow not to spend all the petrol money last month. I had £60 left over so I put this into the black horse begone fund and I am still on track to having this paid off by the end of June. I hope to have the Black Horse and Creation accounts paid off by the end of August. That then only leaves the mortgage, student loan and car loan. I am thinking of overpaying the mortgage by £100 each month and letting the student loan and car loan run until the end of their terms.

So once September comes all extra money will be put into the wedding fund. The OH and I have decided that I will save around £8,000 which should cover all the wedding costs and that he will save for the honeymoon. We ideally want the honeymoon to be a once in a lifetime holiday but as the OH is finding it difficult to get a job I really don't mind if the holiday is only a week somewhere local. The only thing that is important to me is to be married.

  • Evening everyone

I have just updated my MBing spreadsheet cause I made £37.40 today. So I now have made over £100 from Mb'ing in 3 weeks and this doesn't include the £75 tracked in quidco. So I can now buy the Norton subscription I need which runs out in 5 days. I have decided just to go for the one year package instead of the two year package. It should cost about £41.25 through quidco.

I hope everyone is enjoying there Saturday night.

  • Afternoon everyone

I have just finished eating Sunday lunch. I have been experimenting in the kitchen today and made a chicken, cheese sauce and broccoil pie. I am not very good when it comes to cooking but it wasn't bad for a first attempt. A bit dry so needs more cheese sauce next time.

I have just opened a e-saving account so that I can have instant access to my cash when I need it. I plan to put all the wedding savings into it so when we need to pay for things I can easily transfer the money to my current account. I am also going to put my PAD's into it every day so they will probably be sick of me transferring £1 each day. I have no love for banks.

Hope everyone is enjoying Easter Sunday.

  • Evening everyone

Back to work tomorrow were has the holidays gone? I tried to pay my Tesco CC today but I can't get it to accepted my debit card  because this is the card I always pay this card with. I am hoping it will work tomorrow and that they are still on holidays today.

I have just bought Norton subscription 25% off through quidco, so I hope it tracks. I also got £25 in quidco scheduled for payment at the end of the month.

I am still keeping up the PAD and I am still on track to clear these finance agreements by the end of August. I worked out today how much interest I would save on the car loan if I paid it off early and it was only a small amount so I will definately be letting this one run to the end of its term which is Nov 2011.

Not much else has been happening.

  • Evening everyone

Just when you think you are getting somewhere something puts a spanner in the works. I was driving into work this morning and the car exhaust was being louder than usual. Came home tonight and I think there is a hole in the exhaust. I only put a new exhaust on this car 8 months ago. So I am going to have to get this looked at ASAP. It wouldn't be so bad but I only put new tyres on the car 2 weeks ago and there is no money left in the car repair fund. So I think the emergency fund it going to have to be used.

The £10 from the free scratchcards cleared my account today and is on its way to the wedding fund. Not much else has been happening debt wise.

At least you have an emergency fund and won't have to put any required repairs on a credit card, so well done for that!

Hope it's nothing too serious *crosses fingers*
