  • MFD - have you unplugged the appliance(s) that were in use when the pop went? I think at our last place it wouldn't let you reset the switches unless you have removed (the faulty - usually) appliance that tripped it in the first place. New boards tend to be really sensitive to these things. Then again - could have been the builders giving me flannel

back in a bit when I have caught up.
  • Skinty - have you been to your maternity unit or had your parentcraft classes?

Ours were all about choice and knowing risks and doing what you think is best - gone are the days when they teach you to breathe!

As for not thinking that 1 in 500 is a significant number... _pale_ it's far to big a risk for me to take with my baby, or to feel anything other than dispair about for anyone elses baby.

Tiamai - car choices are hard! My parents had two normal Renault Scenics (The 5 seat ones) and my Grandparents had one, and everyone was very happy with them. Our last car was a Hyundai, and was brilliant until it died :(

I'm having lots of wobbles at the moment - night time seems worse - everything is very dark and scary at night. I'm phoning the head of Midwifry later, to find out who can help me with my birth plan.

  • Hi guys

Thought I would post straightaway as Ive been visiting but having to catch up too much to post!!!!!!

Im 27 weeks now and saw MW yesterday, measuring 27 cms bubs Heartbeat is now 140, it was 160 but she didnt say anything and i didnt compare til i was home.

Got given my HIPG form and my MATB1 - asked for them first so i didnt forget!! and Ive just booked my hols and maternity.
which is: working 1st of May then 2 weeks hols, OML to start 18th (due date) then plan to be back start of November and have booked 2 weeks off from 15th Dec. (our hols are Jan to Dec).

All this should mean Im not totally skint but pretty much!!! Bought my buggy now though using vouchers i get at work and it arrived yesterday - yay!!!

Love the idea of waiting until bubs is ready to come but think I will be susceptible to peer pressure.

Glad to hear you're all good and Congrats on the newbies xxx

I have unplugged it and it will go in the bin...which can only be a good thing because I was getting a bit addicted to those toasted sandwiches which aren't so compatible with losing baby weight!!

If you are going to get stretchmarks, when do they usually appear? Not got any new ones yet, although I'm not too bothered if I get any - my old ones are so faded and almost invisible.
Last time I got my first one at 32 weeks, I remeber because i had just come out of hospital, this time my old ones are starting to go red right at the top or my bump

OH keeps trying to buy a deep fat fryer. I keep telling him that if he does, he'll end up with one of those wives who cannot get out of bed. Sometimes it just easier to avoid these things compeletly isn't it!

i am addicted to toasted ham and cheese sandwiches and was only saying the other day about buying the machine to do them (rather than doing them under the grill) :D:D

I don't think view points are attacked either  I do often allow this thread to digress into medical stuff that is very borderline for what maybe should be removed, but I think allowing the posts on here allows people to read for them selves and make their own minds up. Everyone is allowed their views even if I don't agree with them :) I'm definitely with MFD on this though - I think 1 in 500 is a huge risk to knowingly agree to, especially given that hospitals don't suggest inducing "just" because that is what their paperwork says they must do. They are basing that on medical research and increased risk from historical data and therefor giving you what is in their mind the best medical advice. You can ofcourse take it or leave it but that will always be your choice no matter what procedure is in question.

I would just rather go with the medical advice I get on the day - although I'd rather go a week early than 2 weeks late myself :)

There is ALWAYS risks with births - it's a fact of life. But I don't intend to increase the risk to me or my baby by refusing to be induced if that is the medical advice from the staff at the time.
