AF interesting as Roo will be half danish half british (well scottish but I don't think they do scottish passports
) I want her to have dual nationality and I have been thinking of me applying for it too but if it's £600 :eek: then I think I'll cope with being a foreigner!

If you are going to get stretchmarks, when do they usually appear? Not got any new ones yet, although I'm not too bothered if I get any - my old ones are so faded and almost invisible.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

They won't let you go to 2 weeks here anyway (thank god). They book to induce at 10 days and apparently if you beg they will let you go to 12 days but no longer...
(although not sure how they would force you)
The only reason I can see is if you are convinced that your dates aren't right...but even then why would you want to risk it...and by 42 weeks you will be so pee'd off that carrying on waiting (and taking the chance) wouldn't be anywhere on my list.
They can;t force you, they just scare you into agreeing, but if you refuse there is NOTHNG they can do (as I said in my original post with allthe info).
Why wait? Because I want my baby to be born to its own and my body's schedule, not that of medical staff who just want to fit it into their ideas of when a baby should come.
I realise I'm quite radical for this forum (although I'm not radical enough on the other forum I frequent!) but I feel the opposite way to you and am pretty horrified at people who DO induce because I feel it is so unnatural.
Risk is about figures, and if you won't (not you MFD this is general) read past the doubel risk but to see the actual figures then that frusrates me. A doubling of, say a one per cent chance, is still only a two per cent chance, which is low.
Just looking at 'double' is bad maths/statistics and the kind of thing newspapers do to get good headlines:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

tossing and turning worrying bout baby...since bout 6.30 so decided to get up and now have made myself panic more by reading loads of stuff on the internet!! (all because someone said it was strange not to have any 'morning sickness' )
I've had no sickness at all honey so don;t worry about it, some of us are lucky like that.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I'm a go with the flow kind of girl anyway and trusted the advice of my medical team...and also had no birth plan...just what is safest and best at the time for me and my baby.

Sorry, I'm going through bit by bit as am at work.
See, I feel the opposite - I feel that the best thing for me is unlikely to be what hospital staff want which is hwy I'm having a home birth so I can dictate what happens and when, rather than being told to fit in with a hospital schedule.
I thinkt he main thing is that we are all happy with our own birth plans and that we get the birth we want, whatever that might be.
But I do think it's good to look at other options and to make an informed choice rather thans be told what it good - because many many midwives agree with what I've been highlighting so it's not just a weird earth mother thing!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

1 in 500 is not insignificant skinty - you KNOW 500 people, I KNOW 500 people. We are not talking about big numbers at all. If your Downs results or any other test came back as 1 in 500 then you would worry...
Why on earth would I up the risk of my baby dying to 1 in 500???
That's not progressive if you ask me
And actually - the figures say that the risks more than double.
I spent last night in tears worrying about the poor babies - I think we have to agree to disagree.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

MrsT - the £600 applies to me (aussie citizen but permanent resident in UK) if i want to become a UK citizen (and therefore eligible for UK passport).
UK passport for child looks to be just under £50 and valid for 5 years.
Going to research whether bubs can have aussie passport as MFD mentions.0 -

I think we will, because I dont; think 1 in 500 is that large a risk, personally. Plus, your baby can die anyway, unexpectedly, at any point, whatever you do, because life is not without risks.
And I say that, as Elle pointed out, having lost a baby.
As long as we all do what is right for us that's fine, I just don;t like the way non-establishment viewpoints get attacked on here and I don;t think it's a bad thing to have some extra info to ponder over.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Had a flap about the new car and spotted a 7 seater sceinic, so in we went to see it... but it looks like green baby vomit. There is a silver one though.... So.... silver 7 seater sceinic or black 7 seater trajet (that is affectionatly known as the pimp mobile) ?? I want the first sceinic we saw with all the toys and fancy stuff!!!! *stamps foot!*
Had a huge wobble last night complete with tears when I went to bed (and DH was on back shifts so not there). I am terrified of another section. Been trying to blank it out but last night it hit me hard. Ok today though, I guess I need to go and speak to my consultant about it (if I ever get the flamin scan appointment! :mad: that's miffing me off big time now!).
Finally sorted out the finances and got a shock, we are wasting almost £600 a month on who knows what! On paper it is 'spare' cash, but it's just being wasted on crap!!! :eek: Got to get my save like mad hat on now, DH has decided he hates his car (that he bought 5 months ago cos he loved it) and wants a new one. :rolleyes:0 -
I don't think non-establishment viewpoints get attacked on here. I had a lot of helpful comments about my options regarding homebirth, despite that being a very non-establishment thing. That said, the establishment does sometimes get things right, and we sometimes agree with them for those reasons, not because they are the establishment.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0
