Thanks Elle!
You're right I WAS only entitled to 30 days - but as I have now been there for a year my entitlement went up to 7 weeks plus 6 weeks 50%(rolling 12 months)
I think I'm gonna print that post off tomorrow and some bits from the website and take them in with meThat should worry them sufficiently heehee!
My order of preference is obviously: 1 - carry on working but from home! 2 - suspended on full pay! 3 - signed off sick...
I'll triple check my mails from HR but I am fairly sure it says nothing about WHY I can't work from home apart from their duty of care argument which is tosh in my eyes if it only applies to meDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I'm only 17+4 and I've already noticed a change in my friends. I'm the first one of my groups (one from school and one from college) to have a baby and I've been amazed how some of my friends took the news. In particular, the two I didn't think would be at all interested, have been bombarding me with "how are you? how's the bump?" and "is it a boy or girl?" (at 12wks!) texts and taking a real interest in what I've bought or plan to buy. The ones I thought would be interested haven't really been in touch since I told them..Time will tell..

No probsI would look out all the HSE stuff for you tonight, but I need to go to bed soon and if I start looking I won't stop and will go off on random tangents until 3am!
PM me your email address if you want that WFH policy
Btw, just bear in mind, I'm an admin bod, not a HR Advisor with a degree and experience, but I spend a lot of my time working with the advisors who do have to know all this legislation so I pick up bits and always read the legal updates and industry magazines we get through so this is all just my interpretation and what I've picked up along the way0 -
elle - i know the feeling i have a hand full of friends honestly i can count them on one hand... and to know shes being like this for no reason just getting to me i know it may sound selfish but i have no one to really talk to, you know the sort of talks where you get everything off your chest and i feel im gonna pop soon and she was at one point the one i turned to at moments like that but the last time i tried she just didnt seem to care .. sad eh? x

I don't think I can be a union member with Unison... Working for a Ltd company? Or have I misunderstood unions?

Are you a contractor Tine?
Unions come in very handy when things like this occur, as I mentioned by dad hadn't been paid ANYthing while off sick for the first 4 wks he called the union and ooh as if by magic he got a payslip in the next days post
Searching yes you have to pay, they cost about £3 but i can't remember if that is a week or a month0 -

I'm a T&G member. Well, Amicus and T&G merged about a year ago and became Unite. The majority of our site is and it's a mixture of process workers, engineers and office staff so I think anyone can join that one too.
Searching, mine costs £9.97 a month. There are quite a few other benefits to it too - free will writing service via a local (very pricey) solicitor and a £1000 death benefit, plus discounts for insurance products I think, and lots more.
ETA: http://www.tgwu.org.uk/Templates/Internal.asp?NodeID=89716 - I've got T&G Care level membership. I pay for it by monthly DD. We can pay through payroll at work, but I don't want my colleagues knowing I'm a member - they seem to have a dim view of union members (probably due to our over-zealous union reps!) and think that they're above ever needing the representation services of a union..0 -
Elle found this bit and I think this is probably the critical bit from the gov website:If you think you're at risk
If you think you're at risk, but your employer doesn't agree, you should first talk to your health and safety representative or a trade union official. You can also go directly to your employer to explain your concerns. If your employer still refuses to take action, you should talk to your doctor or call the Health and Safety Executive helpline on 0845 345 0055 (8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday).
So right now I am going direct to my employer but have requested H&S assess me. If Work don't agree with me and either H&S OR my doctor does then my employer SHOULD take action right?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
