Thanks Sami - I know I should tell them but I think that with my hormones the way they are now I will probably cry and look like a right dork!! :rotfl:

Unfortunately, they will never put anything in writing because they can't guarantee anything - I just wish they wouldn't say anything let me get on with my job and then when a promotion opportunity comes up surprise me.

Also, they are pretending that this person hasn't been promoted so would just fob me off anyway.

I think I will keep my head down - await my pay rise in April, see what I get then announce I'm pg. If I tell them b4 I know for a fact they will not give me as good a pay rise. Will be a good measure of how much they value me.

    Sorry for the rant
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Ooh I dunno if this can be done, anyone know?
I guess you can discharge yourself but they may want baby to stay for a bit, especially if it';s the middle of the night.

    Going back a bit..........

I think it depends on the hospital. If i'd gone to the ward i'd have been there until the peadiatrician (sp?), had checked baby over the following day.

I'd asked midwife beforehand to use the midwife unit at the hospital, and for an early as poss discharge. They'd written across my yellow book 'early discharge requested' - hence us being at the hospital for less than 3 hours:eek:  and coming home at 6.30am!

I think if there'd been any problems they'd have moved us to the ward to stay over - but once she's seen me manage a shower on my own, and to feed baby confidently - i was allowed to go. (Midwife came out to the house Saturday morning to do all the usual checks).

    Evening everyone !!!

I have had such a bad day today

I have the worst pain in the bottom of my bump / top of my legs that I have ever had, and it feels like a stabbing pain !!:(

Anyone know what it is? I never had this with DD and have been getting twinges of it for the last week or so, but tonight it is really sore and I want to cry

I get that every evening, starts late afternoon. It's your muscles pulling, one in particular just above my right leg is a stabbing pain. You might end up having to wear a support. When it starts try and lay down, it takes the pressure off the bit that hurts. Try not to worry.
Too many children, too little time!!!

Thanks , was told at my 20wk scan last week that bubs is lying head up, feet down and the feet are poking at where my section scar from DD is and it was hurting a bit already, but this is sorer than that and it was worrying me a bit:eek:

Good to hear that its not unusual though

  • This early dishcharge thing confuses me. I had my baby at 3:45am and was put on the ward at 5. NO sleep thanks to crying babies (not mine) and I was up, dressed and ready to leave by 9am. They said I couldn't leave until DS had done his black poo!!

SO in the end I had to hang around waiting all packed up till DS decided at 1:30 to do his poo.

Did they make that up? My midwife also told me it is mandatory 6 hour stay in hospital after baby is born. I HATE hospitals and just wanted to take my little one home for some rest. Before the fun starts!!

Well it seems that one way of trying to turn the baby is to spend a lot of time on all fours... and I mean hours on end :) The thought/theory is that the change in gravity will encourage the baby to turn :)

Well its not a prison they can't keep you there, but they just like so make sure you are all ok before you go, the pooh doesn't really matter as long as they do one :D

I personally won't be leaving until bubs has seen the paediatrician as my Friends daughter had a serious heart condition that wasn't picked up until the paediatrician saw her so I don't feel comfortable leaving so quickly.
If my friend had gone home without it being picked up it is almost a definite that her daughter would have died that night so I'm sure you'll understand my fear
I won't be staying in for long tho! bubs if your listening arriving on a Saturday morning so I can make lunch on the ward and be home for tea would be lovely!
