Talking of different colours... DH is technically pale blue with him being scottish and many years ago when he was down visiting a friend in London who was black (jamaican) he was woken up in the moring by his VERY jamaican mother shouting up the stairs - "Winston! Get doon here! and bring dat skinny whiiiite boi withcha" - he's been "dat skinny whiiiite boi" ever since :rotfl:

yes i think i will ask for a room and pay the £60, they just send you a bill when you get home, so dont have to pay while in hospital....
i would like the privacy, cant book one in advance just have to hope there one available monday when i get there....
  • I think a private room here is £90
I'd probably pay if it was £60, I hated being on the ward with DS, all the other babies kept me up all night screaming, whilst DS was mute

Just looked on my hospital website, it doesn't say how much the rooms are, but if I have to stay in, I hope there is one free. I really don't want to be on a ward, so if they do try and make me go to the ward, I want my own room!

Current plan is to discharge myself once I'm done in the delivery suite, and not go to the ward at all.

I had to go in hospital last time the day after my HB. DS was in special care for 3 days and by the time I got him back he was so fractious he screamed constantly, I gotta private room 'cos all the other mums complained. Cows hadn't even spoken to me all the time I was there with no baby.

    Hi all.

Just drawn to this thread even though I don't know I'm pregnant I'm just late and want to get it off my chest. I'm 40 and have three boys youngest is 7 this month. I think my last period was 31.12.08 but am wondering if I am mistaken I'm usually regular but occasionally have a blip and am a few days out. I have ordered some preg tests from ebay as I live in a small town and so didn't want to buy at the local chemist and I work at the local Tesco so won't risk buying there either. I will have to wait (kinda scared of knowing anyway so happy to wait really).

Anyway just wanted to get it off my chest maybe joining you girls soon perhaps.

How can you be so patient?

  • I'm jotting down some notes for my birth plan, can anyone remember what else I want to put on it?

    Main things are:
No-one to touch me without asking me (each and every time)
No injections or procedures without explaining what they are
My word on pain relief is final

Thats all that is really important to me, and all related to being voilated. Because I've got PTSD and this is the first time I've ever done anything medically, I really don't want to be extra traumatised by having people doing things to me. Is there anything else I should write down to be safe? Does that make sense?

What about students feelie? Would you mind having from 1 upto a few students pop in the room while your in labour??

I had one student when I had my son. She was young and sweet but I felt a t!t when she had a go of giving me an internal. I think I was more embarrassed for her, so no students for me this time around! :)

The only other thing I'm gonna have on mine, is for Steve to cut the cord, if he is upto it! (not a shaking quivering mess, bless him lol)

Up to last night I have just been expecting to be late. Also have been really busy so not thought much about it. Today though I am starting to panic a little. Must try to distract myself as getting nothing done.

thanks al for your advice on a csection, i am more worried about being in hospital than having a c section i think.
my husband has got 24 days off from feb 20th and work are letting him have some time off next week, so got support at home.
my other children are 15,11,3 and 4.....my older 2 will help out, my little girl who is 4 is desperate to help with baby, she even made some cakes at the weekend and is saving one for baby:rotfl:

i can have a room at the hospital £60 per night if i wish....

i will let you know how it all goes when i get back from hospital !!!

i keep hoping it will turn to head down
Good that you've got older ones to help out and OH will be around.
I know its not MSE but if you would feel happier then go for the private room :)

what date have they given you? in the meantime go to any complementary place you can and spend as much time as possible on your head! (I turned Chris by being upside down alot for a week 2 or 3 weeks before he was born )
