Hiya All,
Just popped on for a quickie.it took me ages to read the last 14 pages! Must log on more !!!
Went for my 14 week check up on Wednesday and had a bad experience with a midwife....it could be me but i really felt that she went on and on and on about the risks of spina bifida and downs exspec cos of my age and she advised me that i should go for a private scan to check the risks...I would of had a scan before where the check the fluid..cant remember the name of it and now apparently im too late for it. I knowthe risks for mums over 35 are suppose to be higher but surely the current statistics are on my side?? I started crying whilst i was there , a wuss hey! But i feel low as it is at the moment without her comments.I was in for an hour and a half !
Anyone else felt the same or just a case of hormones for me? Sorry to waffle on X
I think we've all had/have the hormonesI wouldn't worry about that if I were you.
Amniocentesis test (the one with the needle) can be done at 15 -16 weeks. Personally I wouldn't want to take the risk and ALLEDGEDLY it only detects something like 20% of Downs babies anyway???
The triple test is usually done at 16 weeks ish - this is a blood test. I had this and most will be offered it as standard.
The nuchal translucancy scan - usually done between 12-14 weeks - you MIGHT be able to have one if you call a private clinic tomorrow and they have room... IF you want one.
Before you stress about it then have a long think about what you would actually DO if it was likely to be a downs child... Everyone has very individual views on it and some would rather not know
Some want to know but would keep it regardless. Others again would choose to terminate. None of them are wrong - just different choicesDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -

Hi all..
Glad everything is okay AM
FG, you're glowing
AF, hope you've not had too stressful a day at work!
MFD, enjoy your date. Best I'm going to get is a trip with OH to Tesco later!
R.mac, hope you're well and holding bubba by now!
Caz, where are you love?! We're worried now..
Everyone else.. Hope you're all well xx
More tummy rumbling feelings without being hungry.. have to keep telling myself I'm probably not hungry and therefore don't have to reach for the chocolate!
I got a few coupons from Pamper today. I sent off the joining forms for the Boots and Bounty clubs the other day, and I've got to go to Asda over the weekend to pick up my Bounty bag and Huggies starter kit thingy too. When I get the vouchers from Boots, I think I'll be able to use the vouchers for Pampers to get the nappies cheaper than usual plus the changing bag. Will have to dig out my Boots vouchers from the first time to see if they're still valid - might end up with two changing bags!
Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? Our friends were coming up tomorrow night but now they've cancelled on account of the weather so we've got the evening to ourselves. Might see if I can persuade OH out to the cinema or something. Also shopping tomorrow with another friend and looking for watches for my birthday list, then it's my mum's birthday on Sunday so we're all going out for tea0 -

I got the TT microwave/cold water version for £10 (should have been £30). We're short on workspace in the kitchen so it's going to live in the microwave, methinks!Forgot to use my £5 off voucher tho (I've got one from the pack I got in July last year too).
Reminds me, going to ask OH now to get the box down so I can check the voucher dates - everything baby related it in huge storage boxes on the top of our wardrobes!0 -
The first Bounty pack I got was terrible. Hardly worth searching all the local lloyds chemists for. It was mainly advertising leaflets.poor when all a girl wants is freebies!0

Suzy - I think health professionals just love to lecture you these days
I have declined all tests (including the one for me like HIV HepB etc) I have the lowest risk possible I think - I'm 23, no history of any problems, only had 2 sexual partners and had all the disease tests when I was preg last time but they still insist on trying to convince me to have the tests EVERYtime I see a MW
Krystal/MFD - a recent txt off my hubby "love you 3 xxx a kiss for each of you"0
