So, what did the OP decide about the deal offered in the end? Good, bad, indifferent? Is there now a proud Fiesta owner paying £65 per month for a car?
- It can only be locked buy opening the back door, leaning in and pushing the button down ( and yes I have managed to lock myself out of it twice!)
- It can only be opened by the passenger door then leaning across to pull inside handle of drivers side.
- The heater only blows cold, completely cold, air and when frozen won't even blow at all to clear screen.
- the spheres need replacing veeeeery bouncy not great when you've got a disc problem!
- Has trashed the road outside my house with oil
- Kids really don't want to be seen in it.

Sheesh.
I thought I mentioned I ordered 20 new shape Fiesta cars pre price rise on Friday for exactly this eventuality? But i must ask, if people know there is a price rise a-comin, why they don't get on with it? There is a fine line between wanting the best price and being too greedy. At some stage you have to jump, or else you lose the deal.
1.4TDCi Style, Titanium, both 3dr
1.4TDCi Titanium 5dr
1.6TDCi Zetec S 3dr
No petrols as the diesels have a better rental/price ratio, and I didn't want to spread myself too thin.
All on PCH, all pre price rise. Mainly silver and black. I don't think many other people have old price cars spare. The price rise was about £740, so it was a massive one.
Roll up, roll up
nb. these cars will not be sold for cash. Only for contract hire or personal contract hire. That's what I do.0 -

Well, the new one is better. Completely re engineered. Not sure, but I don't think the old one has the ankle support airbags.0 -
yes i know the new one is better and safer and dearer

Ling_Valentine wrote: »Yes, an absurd argument. I am sure a five year old Focus IS cheaper than a brand new one. A 10-year old Focus will be even cheaper. So will a 20-year old Escort. Why not go the whole hog and prove how much cheaper a Ford Anglia is?
If you want to run a 5-year old car, that Focus will be lovely, I'm sure. If we accept that the 5-year old car is much better than a 10-year old version, ...then a new one is that much better than a 5-year old one.
its not an arguement, its fact, i own it and nobody else ever has, its mine, i dont owe you anything. why would i want to change it for a newer one when i dont have any money to pay on it.
a monthly payment is better in my pocket and keep my focus.
all the safety gear in the world will not stop your heart bursting through your rib cage when a car comes to a sudden stop from high speed....work permit granted!0 -
Just some final thoughts.Ling_Valentine wrote: »You are unbelieveably anti-progress.Your confidence in your driving skills is mis-placed. Everyone thinks they are a good driver. But everyone makes errors on a daily basis. You only need one...
I've managed 17 years in cars with no abs or esp or whatever other three letter acronymed eseential stuff is available. I take responsibility for what happens.Long service intervals are efficient. They do not detract from the safety of the car. Cars' parts and stuff lasts longer. Parts standards are higher. Who hears of new clutch and new shocks these days?
Anyway, enjoyable though this has been, it wasn't really intended to argue about 20 year old cars, but 18 month models vs brand new.Happy chappy0 -

I can't agree more! I would say it's not good value. I would recomment the new Citroen C5. A great car this new model. Every single customer of the 50 or so who have had C5s frm me have been extremely happy.
C5 is very safe and very cheap!0 -
Picked up a 05 black petrol 2.0 focus ghia with 25k on the clock for 4597 inc fees from BCA this week. Im amazed how much you can save at auction. Everything I saw going through had at least a grand saving on forecourt prices. Worth a look if your in for a new chunk of metal?0

Agree, a sudden high speed stop into an immovable object will probably kill you. But that is physics.
However, for 99% of accidents, the safety gear will make a difference to a larger or lesser degree.
If you have nothing else to callon your money (the opportunity cost again) then put it into a car, drive it until it's a banger or uneconomic and enjoy it. I am not trying to change the world.0 -
and now the ford price rise has come into effect so I've missed the boat & pritty much back at square one
Jam Tomorrow - keep looking and shopping around. Yes, the price rise may have come into effect, but if car sales stay in the doldrums, there will continue to be good deals on cars and who knows, there may well be a better deal at the end of next month!0
